Great Trip, great guide, great boat but too much pollution

Ha Long Carina Cruise 2 days 1 night depart from Ha Noi | Dec 2019
We loved the trip although you have to put up with a long trip from Hanoi to Halong bay. Our guide was great, the boat crew was great and the food was excellent. We were transferred to a different boat the night before but it turned out great. The shame is the levels of pollution in the bay, the scenery is stunning until you look down into the sea !!! The tour operators say they are improving things like stopping plastic bottles on Tito island ok but most of the waste seems to be thrown over the side of the boats. It’s a real shame

Sapa Trekking 2 days 1 night group tour - hotel - day bus from Hanoi | Oct 2019
The sapa Hills are great. The first small walk is touristy as its a village near the town of sapa but was interesting. Second walk next day had stunning views. Guide was great. Hotel was fine. Trip there marred by a flat tyre and a soft replacement plus the driver didn't know which hotel we were staying at.

Amazing experience, but not 5-star (set expectations accordingly)

5 days North Vietnam at a Glance:Hanoi, Halong bay & Sapa | Sep 2019
Sapa and Ha Long Bay are two must see places to see while in Northern Vietnam! This tour provides that while you are staying in Hanoi. Overall, the experience was great! (seeing a variety of sights, doing a mixture of activities, small group size) The tour composed of two separate tour experiences (Sapa + Ha Long Bay). I will critique each separately. SAPA TOUR: The first day was a light walk through the local small town of Cat Cat. Nice history and local cultural aspects provided. Dinner was provided at a local restaurant (food quality good). It also happened to be Autumn Festival time, so was able to experience the local festivities (parade, performances, lights, etc.). The second day was mostly hiking. Be prepared to do A LOT of walking and hiking in the forests. I enjoyed the intense vertical hike up into the mountains via small trail. You will get dirty, but if prepared with proper hiking shoes and clothes, you will be fine. There will be other local assistants to help you so you don't slip if needed. SAPA Recommendation: Even though the overall experience was great, there were some major misses. The driver from Hanoi to Sapa drove quite fast around curves and the small bus could be bumpy in the back. Better driving would be nice. The driver back to Hanoi was great, smooth, and calm. There were no detailed itinerary provided, so most of the activities were spontaneous. That can be very unnerving and prevents proper planning of what to bring, wear, and prepare for. Need to fix this. HANOI: Besides being brought back to Hanoi to your hotel, no tour activities were provided. So I would rename this tour to just Sapa and Ha Long Bay Tour. Hanoi was just the central pickup point for both. HA LONG BAY TOUR: Well coordinated, canoeing, cave walk, boat was dated, guide explained schedule well. Driver was great, safe, careful. OVERALL RECOMMENDATION FOR VIATOR PACKAGE: Detailed tour itinerary was not provided beforehand, just high level. This made it difficult to plan, coordinate pickup/dropoff locations, what to bring, what to wear, and what to expect. Please improve this for others so it is not so spontaneous. I had to do A LOT back and forth texting via WhatsApp during the 5-day tour. Luckily I had data plan on phone, but that should not be the case for a tour package. My expectation is that everything is planned out for you and you don't have to worry about the details. Some of the taxi connections were not included.

Excellent experience

Tastes of My Son and Tra Que | Jun 2019
The guides were knowledgeable, prompt, and friendly. They had a clear idea of the schedule and the space we were in. I truly enjoyed learning about the Hindu temples, reconstruction and excavation efforts, and cooking new foods. Personally, I thought the dishes were delicious and everybody was very kind.

Not what we expected

Ha Long Carina Cruise 3 days 2 nights depart from Ha Noi | Dec 2018
Unfortunately once you are on board you don’t have a choice. The itinerary wasn’t what was paid for and the food was too much of the same. Disappointing for the money and wouldn’t recommend it.

We were very pleased with the tour, food was excellent. Kayaking in the lagoon and in the caves and later jumping to water from the top deck of the cruise boat was just amazing. Reccomend!

Combo package Ha Noi Palmy hotel Ha Long Rosa Cruise 5 days 4 nights | Jun 2018

The Palmy Hotel and their staff were fantastic and very welcoming. All pick ups were on time, excellent communications with Hannah from the Asia Travel office. The cruise itself was nice and chilled out, guides were knowledgable and good fun, Frankie even gave us a personal concert with his guitar. Caves were very interesting, kayaking was relaxing and the views every morning were breathtaking.

Ninh Binh - Hoa Lu Tam Coc Trang An - Superb day Tour by Limousine from Hanoi | May 2018

The bus was nice but TOO LONG. The canoe ride was ok...view was great. HOWEVER, the overly aggressive approach in obtaining tips ruined this trip for us. The boat rowers purposely steered us toward the snack boat in the middle of the river forcing us to spend 10 on mangos. After the boat ride they demanded tips which we were already planning to give them. Worst was when we got off the boat and had to use the bathroom. We did not know you had to pay and the lady chased us down demanding money.

The tour is all day and we felt like we wasted a precious day in Vietnam.

Motorbike Bat Trang Pottery Village | Apr 2018

This is a great relaxing tour for those who are interested in seeing pottery/ceramic artists at work in some of the oldest and most established workshops in Vietnam.

after a 30 mins moped ride to the outskirt of Hanoi, you will embark on a walking tour through the old pottery village. You will pass through quiet alley ways to get to a few different shops. Each shop specialized in particular products, anything from giant vases to small anime/comic inspired statues.

You can pay one of the local villagers 40,000 vnd or so which is about 1.70, for a quick clay sculpting lesson and have a go at it.

The village has a big market where you can buy cheap and beautiful handmade products to bring home. No bargaining necessary!

You will also get a chance to see a vietnamese farmers market, ancient houses and temples, and a scenic view of the Hong river surrounded by rural communities.

2-Day Halong Bay, Surprising Cave and Titop Island Cruise from Hanoi | Apr 2018

The food was great, the other guests were fantastic company and the staff on the boat were brilliant.
However, we didn't visit Luon Cave, Titop Island, no beach opportunity or any signs of a beach stop.
No opportunity for bamboo boat by locals.
We were given kayaking opportunity, swimming in deep water, squid fishing, a visit to pearl factory, early tai chi lesson, followed by cooking class.
The visit to Surprising Cave was good, but actually did this on the second day.
When we were collected from our hotel, despite being 30 mins early which wasn't a problem , we were the only 2 guests on board who were left stationary outside the tour office for 50 minutes alone whilst waiting for tour guide.
Basically we were on the tour bus for 6 hours en route to Halong Bay.
Overall experience was poor.
I've given it a score of 1, due to food quality, staff on board the boat, company of other guests.
I only booked this due to the activities and locations of choice.
It didn't deliver my expectations, therefore make sure you get exactly the excursion in writing from the operator.
Luckily , I did, and I await their response, due to the fact that the local operator attempted to tell me this was not part of the itinerary.
I was actually made to look a fool by the operator when I questioned this in front of other guests.
Oh dear, I have the email trail, which may just look like I was correct and the suppliers are incompetent.

Hanoi Phat Diem Cathedral Tam Coc Private Tour | Apr 2018

By far our best tour on this trip. Our guide Huyen Jasmine was one of the nicest people we have ever met. The cathedral was great and we even got a bonus visit to the bell tower. Then to Tam Coc for the boat ride to the caves. Relaxing and incredibly beautiful. While there is a lot of boats coming and going it can still feel like you're alone. Its so peaceful and quiet. Keep an eye out for mountain goats high in the cliffs we saw one and be wary of the floating sellers at the end of the river before heading back. Expensive and they will try and sell you stuff for your boat rower. Lunch was fantastic, tasty and abundant. Highly recommended and if you get Huyen as your guide it will be even better.
