The Tammy Jane departs from below the lighthouse in Harbour Town Yacht Basin. The check-in location is just to the right of the Harbour Town Lighthouse at the Vagabond Cruise reservation office.

Highly recommend this trip!

We had a fun morning on the water on this tour. We learned about the area and the local islands around the sound. The captain and crew were very knowledgeable, polite and professional. The only issue I had was I was a little chilly but I had on shorts and should have dressed warmer. We cooked up our catch and it tasted delicious. Thank you for a wonderful time!

Ian and Lauren were fun guides with Captain Spike leading the way. We didn’t catch a lot of shrimp, lots more jellyfish unfortunately. We did have some unique things in the catch that I got done cool pictures of.

The birds were following the nets and were beautiful to watch. Then it was interesting to watch the catch and take some home to cook ourselves. The fresh shrimp were delicious. There should have been more narration on the ships microphone for the first part of the trip.

Our family had a great time shrimping! Our guides and captain were awesome and very knowledgeable. Our net caught a lot of jellyfish, fish, crabs, squid, starfish and of course shrimp that we were taught how to prepare by popping the heads off 😝 Our guides told us about each fish or creature that was caught. The kids got to hold all kinds of sea creatures and that was so fun for them. The dolphins at the side of the boat, going after the net, were a fun added bonus! There was plenty of shrimp at the end for families to take home. Overall, a great time and we'd love to go again!

Shrimping and So Much More

A great trip. The knowledgeable and friendly guides kept three generations of people engaged and learning about shrimping and so much more. They didn’t catch a lot of shrimp, but they did catch and show a variety of inhabitants in the water around Hilton Head. And we saw more dolphins close up than we saw on the dolphin cruise.

Kids really enjoyed seeing everything pulled in on the catch. Crew very knowledgeable and fun. Don’t go with expectations of taking home a lot of shrimp. We had enough for everyone to sample after we go home and cooked it. We did have a good catch, just other groups on the boat said they weren’t together so they each got more. Not the crew’s fault.

Captain Spike, Lauren, and Ian were such a great team. They were able to send us home with over 3 lbs of shrimp (they would have given us more if we could eat more). They taught us about the ecosystem, birds, sealife. My 4 year-old absolutely loved it. FYI, Hudson’s on the docks will cook your whole shrimps if you ask very nicely. (go before 6 or after 8pm). My entire family absolutely loved this experience.
