What You Can Expect

Half-Day Cu Chi Tunnels by Luxury Speedboat

Guest on boat

Following hotel pickup in Ho Chi Minh City, you're transferred by minivan to Tan Cang pier. Travel with your guide and small group by luxury speedboat to the Cu Chi Tunnels, located about 43 miles (70 km) northwest of Saigon. During the 1.25-hour ride, a light breakfast is served including seasonal fruits and pastry with bottled water. Feel the fresh breeze while you listen to your guide's commentary about daily life along the riverbanks.

On arrival at Cu Chi, watch a documentary film about one of history's most sophisticated human-made tunnels and hear wartime legends. Then walk into the jungle with your guide and crawl into the tunnels to see traps, secret entrances, bunkers, and underground hideouts from a restored part of the 155-mile (250-km) labyrinth, complete with trenches and sites for eating, sleeping, meetings, military activities, food storage, and more.

You can shoot a rifle at the on-site gun range (ammunition is your own expense), then get a look at local industries such as rice-paper and rice-wine production. Following a break for green tea and tapioca — the main food served during the Vietnam (American) War — you're taken to Tan Cang resort for a traditional Vietnamese lunch including seven main courses.

You'll arrive back at your hotel in the afternoon.

Very informative, and our guide, Kate, was terrific. A piece of history worth seeing, it's one thing to read about it, it's a completely other thing to actually see it, and crawl through those tunnels, and get a sense of what they did for months/years, wow.

Was a very special day and travelling by the speedboat was great because it only took about an hour to get to there, and with only a group of 6 people we had time to get to know the other travelers on the way and there was not much waiting in queues when we got there. Our guide Phuong Nguyen was lovely, very funny and with beautiful english, lunch was also lovely and we were back at our hotel early in the afternoon so we still had half a day to explore Saigon for ourselves too. Was definately worth the little extra in price from the bus.

These kind of trips always come down to the type of host you have to make the experience. From pick up Kite our guide was amazing. Her charm really did make the trip and I would highly recommend going to see the tunnels. It was a comfortable trip except for when you go into the tunnel but this is only an option I did not feel pressured at any point to buy anything or do anything I did not want to. The meal at the end was of great quality and on the whole i'm delighted to have chosen this trip. Thank you again Kite!

We did this tour on the 16th June 2017. I would definitely recommend this tour to the Cu Chi Tunnels- it was very well organised, the boat ride was enjoyable, the food was good and plentiful for the day. Our tour guide can't remember his name sorry was knowledgeable and eager to educate us and answer any questions. The tour also felt well paced and we weren't rushed through any part of it. Excellent value for money!
