What You Can Expect

Ho Chi Minh City Shore Excursion: Private City Tour Including Cyclo Ride

Ho Chi Minh City Shore Excursion: Private City Tour Including Cyclo Ride

Travel to Ho Chi Minh City after morning pickup from the port at Phu My or Lotus, relaxing in a comfortable climate-controlled private vehicle for the scenic two-hour drive.

In the morning, you'll experience a classic Vietnamese art form: a water puppet show. Watch a short performance of this type of puppetry, which dates back to the 11th century and features lacquered wood puppets that appear to dance on the surface of a shallow indoor pool.

Get an overview of Vietnam's diverse cultures at the National History Museum. Your guide shows you artifacts that reflect the evolution of Vietnam, from modern-day people back to the Cham and Khmer dynasties, and the Dong Son civilization from the Bronze Age.

Enjoy traditional Vietnamese dishes for lunch at a local restaurant. Then step into your cyclo for a one-hour tour along Dong Khoi Street, the heart of old colonial Saigon and formerly known as Rue Catinat. Admire fine examples of French colonial architecture as you pay a quick visit to the Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office nearby. Get great photo ops of other classic colonial landmarks such as the Saigon Opera House and Saigon City Hall.

Before your cyclo tour winds down, stop outside the Reunification Palace (aka Independence Palace), site of dramatic events during the 1975 Fall of Saigon that marked the end the Vietnam War. Your cyclo tour ends at one of the most liveliest markets in Ho Chi Minh City, Ben Thanh market. Have time to shop for souvenirs among a bounty of goods, then return in your private vehicle to your cruise terminal.

Worry-free Shore Excursion:
We will ensure your excursion ends with ample time for you to return to the Ho Chi Minh City port for your ship’s departure. In the extremely unlikely event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. If your ship is delayed and you are unable to attend this activity, your money will be refunded. See our terms and conditions for full details.

We really had a great time thanks to Tien, our tour guide. Tien greeted us with and #34;Good Morning Vietnam!!! and #34; Throughout the tour he exhibited his bubbly personality. The food was very good. The only downside was the puppet show which is part of their culture. Otherwise it was an excellent tour.

Our guide Tin was awesome! We were indeed lucky to have such a good person and a very patient one at that! Our time in Vietnam was an eye opener. Both guide and driver could not have been more pleasant! We are so happy with Viatour...do not do a trip to Vietnam and not think of using a reputable operator and a knowledgable tour guide as we experienced..thank you Tin for your time and for being a true professional! We had a blast!

Kien was our guide for this trip and he was very good and knowledgeable. I would drop the lacquer factory tour, its just another sales pitch stop to promote buying things that most people did not care for.

Our guide 'Henry' was very friendly and knowledgeable. Highlight of the day was the cyclo ride .... a great way to see the city! Be aware the cyclo drivers will ask you to tip them. If you are a history buff the museum was interesting although we could have given the puppet show a miss. The only other negative was the lunch was a bit odd ..... we were the only people in a room but the food was good. Overall I would recommend as a good tour of Saigon.
