Your day trip to the Huon Valley starts as you depart Hobart by coach, catching views of the city, River Derwent, Salamanca Place and Wrest Point Casino. Continue the drive through Huonville, a rural town and valley hub; Franklin, a town on the banks of the Huon River known for its wooden boat building; and Geeveston, another country town.
Explore the valley and river area on foot along the Huon Pine Walk and under a canopy of tall tree ferns. The highlight of your Huon Valley experience is the Tahune AirWalk, a footbridge in the Tahune Forest that measures between 80 and 145 feet (25 and 45 meters) above the ground and about 2,000 feet (600 meters) long. Walk across the bridge to admire the forest canopy from the treetops, and look down on the Picton and Huon rivers. Total time spent on the AirWalk is about 30 minutes, and you’ll also have time for a second walk on the ground-level boardwalk. Disabled access and facilities are available.
Your day trip ends when you return to Hobart.
