While at the farm, take a peek into the production rooms, where you can watch a demonstration from a master cheese maker and learn the secrets of chocolate making. We were a little disappointed as there was no fruit to be picked the apparent reason was that Coal River Farm is only two years old and that the fruit trees which there are a lot of different types aren't established enough the bare any fruit .There were two Strawberry Patches one of which had only recently been planted with 9000 strawberry plants and the other not yet barring fruit Strawberry's .
We did enjoy the talk given by Jamie on how they produce on site different cheeses and chocolates .This was followed by some tasting of some of their Cheese and Chocolate which they make and I can say they were very nice indeed. After the tasting we were shown around the rest of the farm. Would like to go back gain when there is fruit on trees to be picked.
I would recommend if when listing this tour that reference should be shown of what fruit may be available for picking through the year depending on the season.
After Coal River Farm it was short drive to a Abalone Farm where we were shown a video on how the abalone is caught ,measured and brought to the surface this was followed by some tasting of cooked Aussie Version and plain. Myself I did prefer the cooked version you could also purchase some there also. It was a interesting day.
