Overview

The 4,170-foot (1,270-meter) peak of Mt. Wellington is one of Hobart’s most famous landmarks. This Explorer Bus ticket offers hassle-free transfers between Hobart and the mountain summit—a 30-minute journey each way. Your ticket is valid all day and there are several different departure times, so you can hop off to hike the mountain trails and spend as long as you like admiring the views from the summit.

The bus was air conditioned which was nice on a hot day, the driver was also very kind, funny and informative of the history of Tasmania and Mt Wellington. Very beautiful lookout which captures the entire scenery of Hobart in all its glory.

I used the bus as a hop...

I used the bus as a hop on and off service. Took it to the summit and hiked down myself. Caught a returning bus at Fern glade. Wasn’t worried about not having a service back as there are many other buses (just need to check the timetable). My guide/driver Ed, was very knowledgeable; he gave commentary on the way up, provided a map of Kunanyi and gave recommendations on which hikes were good. Other guests just used it as advertised, a 2.5h return trip.
well organised short tour

My driver Greg organised everything well. The peak view was beautiful - the planned stop of 40 minutes is a bit short, but there is an option to transfer to the next bus. The tour was finished on time with plenty of good pictures.

Great short tour that allows you to discover more about Hobart and its treasures! Paul was very informative, with impressive driving skills and extremely patient. Just a heads up to check the weather: we reached the top and it was not only so cloudy that we couldn’t see much, but also extremely cold!!! Thankfully, the clouds cleared up thanks to the very strong wind, letting us take some photos of the view! Thus, gear up, and don’t miss the chance to learn more about the land, to visit historical landmarks and to see beautiful flora!

Good discovery trip

Worth the money. Very good experience. Would love to know BEFORE booking the trip about walking tracks on the summit, how to come back later, when the other buses come for pick-up, etc. The trip seemed short. Would advise to do more research BEFORE booking the next trip to Mount Wellington.

I had a great experience with Greg as our tour guide. He drove the tour bus smoothly and safely, and he provided lots of interesting and useful information throughout the journey. At the top of Mt wellington, it was freezing cold, but the breathtaking views made it absolutely worth it. Would happily recommend it!

I walked from The Springs to the Pinnacle, great trails but I came across a lot of people coming down from the pinnacle wearing only shorts and tongs, not appropriate to walk down, it is dangerous. You have to be prepare for all conditions, ice pellets were falling at the top.

Excellent trip. The driver was very informative and the journey was comfortable, and was done in a good amount of time. Plus there were ample opportunities to explore a lookout and the summit of Mt Wellington too, to get some good snaps.

Great Excursion

This is a great and convenient way to see Mt Wellington and the beautiful scenery. The drive there was fun, as we got to hear facts from our guide and learn more about the area. The scenery from the summit was awesome. There are toilet facilities on the summit and plenty of room to avoid the crowds. The overlook structure sheilds you from the wind if you'd rather stay inside. The meeting space for the bus was convenient and easy to find. If in doubt, just ask the great people at the nearby visitor center.

We had such a great time on this bus trip. Tony was friendly, informative and had a great sense of humour. It was such a beautiful scenic route, and Kunanyi was stunning. Even though it was windy and cold, it was well worth it!
