Meet your guide in the lobby of your hotel in Hoi An and make a morning or afternoon departure, depending on the option selected at booking. It's a short drive to the Cam Thanh fishing village where you'll take part in the daily life of local fishermen and their families.
Start with a welcome snack of bottled water, coconut, and fruit juice. Then get settled into a bamboo basket boat and hear a brief introduction about the history of the Cam Thanh River, including the role it played during wartime. Learn to paddle this traditional Vietnamese vessel and join in a playful basket-boat race against local fishermen who instruct you in the art of round-net and cast-net fishing.
Try to catch crab and coconut mussels and make tools from coconut leaves as you explore the Bay Mau coconut forest. After immersing in these hands-on activities, you will return to a fisherman's house to cook what you have gathered for lunch or dinner. Mineral water is provided to accompany the meal.
After you partake in traditional fishing techniques and consume your catch, you're returned to your hotel.

Great tour. Very fun to ride in the basket. Tour guide was ok. I had more fun with the local who I rode the basket with. I speak Vietnamese so may be I got more of a personal touch. She made it fun for me and gave me a little more history beside the tour guide and the lives of the local. She is also very polite with here demeanor
Unexpected this tour is so good. Very reasonable rates. Not only have rowing bowl experience, cooking class and then have a very nice
lunch. Good boat trip and at the end, we again entertained by traditional Vietnam noodles . Nice people and guide.
Not quite as advertised but OK. We were greeted with 'Welcome to your cooking tour' ! which was not what we had booked - but apparently they combine this 'eco tour' with a cooking tour to start with and then both groups go their separate ways. If this was fully explained and/or the descriptive tour content amended there would not be any confusion or misunderstanding because 1 You start in a long boat and then transfer to a Bamboo Basket Boat later 2 You do not cook what you catch 3 You eat in a restaurant/home rather than a private home. However 1 The Basket Boat was fun and 2 The Lunch was endless and as good a tour as we ate in Vietnam so the program was good value. AS a Tour Operator I have always described accurately what we have sell and provide and if BC Tours based in Hanoi operating in Hoi An with local guides had taken more care with describing what they provide a lot of confusion would have been avoided. However I would still recommend this half day trip.
