Next, slide into a seat at a local eatery to devour bahn can crackers, hot and crunchy biscuits smothered in tender pork, soft quail eggs and fresh salad. Continue into the historical heart of the city and immerse yourself in the bustling atmosphere of the central market, an exuberant sprawl of street hawkers and food stalls. Follow your guide past stalls selling everything from live seafood to sweet treats and learn about the cultural significance of some of Hoi An’s most popular dishes.

After exploring the market, weave your way through the Old Town’s alleys in search of two more local specialties; sample deep fried wonton and white rose dumplings before revitalizing at a thousand-year-old well reputed to supply the best water for a revered indigenous dish.

Head to a vegetarian restaurant to feast on a bounteous buffet and then sample a traditional mussel salad before finishing your feast with dessert in a local’s home. Suitably sated, sip an aromatic coffee or refreshing beer at a riverfront café while enjoying views of the illuminated Japanese covered bridge.

We enjoyed a pleasant evening with a knowledgeable tour guide and delicious bahn mi. It was fascinating seeing the sights in the market stalls and all the fresh things they sell. We finished our tour with a beverage and coconut biscuits. We had to find a vendor after so we could purchase some of the coconut cookies to take home to share.

We loved this tour to learn about and experience the local food in Hoi An. We visited the local markets where there are different sections for the various foods. We started with a wonderful bahn mi made with the lightest and crusty bread roll, filled with extremely tasty meats and salad. Over the rest of the tour we ate fried shootings, white rise dumplings, local rice pancakes filled with salad, local chicken and rice, muscle salad, and other meals as well before we finished with a drink at the covered Japanese bridge. Flora was a terrific guide and made our tour very interesting. There was a lot of food on the tour so my advice is to have a small lunch so you can make the most off this tour.

The Hoi An Food Tour was a perfect start to our stay in HoiAn. It provided us with highlights of the different foods available plus it gave us a bearing on what's where in Old Town. I'd would do this tour again and will look for similar tours at other destinations!!

my tour guide was a Hoi An local, who managed to keep the group interested informed and genuine! The only misunderstanding was no real direction where to meet, I just guessed I had to go to the office. Also suggestion pay for Old Town entry ticket before starting it saves time.

This was one of the two best things I did in Vietnam. The tour covered a lot of food and places, and was really well organised. I felt like I had properly tasted local food, in places I would not have found or gone into by myself.
