Don’t book through Viator. Very confusing for everyone. The cable car company didn’t know who they were and took 15 mins to get the booking verified. Says this is a guide but wasnt
No point buying tickets in advance!

First off, this tour is great. Our problem was with the pre-purchase of tickets. What you get is a voucher, not the tickets. You still must wait in line for your tickets and this took 1 hour and 45 minutes!!! False advertising...

Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car

Fantastic day, stunning views. Arrive early to avoid the crowds. Crystal view one way, standard other well worth it.
5 stars for the cable car experience, but Viator is not your only purchase option
William_J, May 2019
We really enjoyed the glass bottom cable car experience we had on our visit to Ngong Ping. But you should understand that you can purchase tickets directly from the attraction's web page, and take advantage of some discounts and alternate options. Also, our Viator voucher had a departure time listed as 9 AM. We found that the cable car doesn't even open until 10 AM, and that our Viator voucher still had to be converted into a ticket for the cable car once we arrived.
In short, having purchased a voucher saved us a little bit of time once the venue opened, but we would have entered even more quickly if we had bought tickets from Ngong Ping directly.
Final tip: Arrive early. We were a little annoyed that the time listed on our Viator voucher was incorrect, but visiting the Tian Tian Buddha and the cable car early in the day is better, before the tour busses arrive and the site gets more crowded.

This was a must activity for us to do when coming to Hong Kong. The only thing I would maybe change would have been the weather...but i understand the tour company can't control that haha. But it wasn't too bad and at least we had some nice views. Took the crystal up and the standard down...im not good with heights so it wasn't great for me but my family and especially my daughter had a great time. If you go to Hong Kong you must try to take this trip up to check out the Big Buddha:

Outstanding experience. Got more than I expected and concerns about whether the children would enjoy it too were immediately dispelled as we got onto the Cable Car. As for Ngong Ping, that was something else altogether! A 'must do' when in Hong Kong!

Not good for people who are immobile or cannot walk long distances. Better to go on a tour.

Fabulous ride up the mountain - great views even though it was misty. Well worth the journey to see the Po Lin monastery and Tian Tan buddha. It was very busy up at the cable car station even before they opened at 10am ticket office opened at 9.50am but the queues later were worse so I would recommend getting there as early as you can. I would also not bother with the crystal cabin unless you really like looking at water and forestry. The views are out of the windows and not through the floor! I did the return journey by cable car but I believe the bus journey down is good. The village at the top of the cable car is manufactured but a couple of gift shops and places to eat.

While the whole Bhudda statue experience is fantastic and well worth the visit, it is unfortunate that the appointed tour operator Liuda Tours, failed to send the correct voucher. This caused some unpleasant vibes at the ticket office, and only after I phoned them, did they send the correct documents. Thus I give them one star!!
