What You Can Expect

Kowloon Street Food Tour

Kowloon Street Food Tour

After making your own way to Yau Ma Tei MTR to meet your guide, set off into the busy Kowloon evening. Your first destination is an open-air fruit and produce market where your guide points out the raw ingredients that are commonly used in local cuisine.

Next, dive into the city’s no-nonsense culinary scene as your guide takes you to favorite spots in this working-class area. Eat and drink as the locals do: in modest family-run eateries and busy food courts that serve up sublime dishes. Sit near other patrons in close quarters and learn how to order in Cantonese for an authentic Kowloon dining experience.

Throughout your 3-hour tour, your guide shares informative commentary about food in Hong Kong, a city that has one of the earth’s highest concentrations of cafés and restaurants per capita. Take in numerous small restaurants near the Temple Street Night Market. Taste favorite main courses, snacks and desserts, some sweet and others savory.

After the food and drinks, you have the option to take an after-dinner stroll in tranquil Kowloon Park, an urban oasis for the densely populated peninsula. Your guide points out local dive bars and glamorous rooftop lounges with views of Victoria Harbour. Visit on your own if you like after your tour ends at the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station.

It’s up to you how much to eat and whether you feel adventurous or prefer to stay more on the safe side. If you have any food allergies or aversions, your guide can help you select suitable dishes. This tour does not include food costs; instead it offers a less expensive tour with flexibility as to what to purchase and eat, without spending money on a set menu that may not appeal to you.

Very interesting and the guide got more fun as the tour went on. The markets were interesting and Danny gave us some good background and history on the area. The highlight was trying the food and we had the best Char Sui pork I've ever eaten! I'd definitely recommend this tour if you are uncertain about trying street food by yourself.

Danny was our tour guide and he did a fantastic job! He is very friendly and knowledgeable about the food and the culture of Hong Kong. We ate some street food, ate at two local restaurants, and browsed through few markets. When we were at a local restaurant my husband wanted to have a beer with dinner. Danny told us the restaurant didn't have a liquor license...he suggested we go to the 7eleven across the street and buy a beer and bring it in to eat with our meal! What a great idea! We would highly recommend this tour!

Guide was excellent and we experienced a good mix of the foods/customs of the Hong Kong residents. We liked that we paid as we went as there was some food we weren't interested in trying or already had tried it before.

Knowledgeable and very personable guide. Showed us another side of Hong Kong you wouldn't otherwise encounter unless you're really adventurous. Very passionate about his food and showing how HK natives eat. Highly Recommended.

Fantastic! Danny was a wonderful guide. He was full of information and facts and showed us a broad range of food and eating experiences. A casual, friendly and well paced tour that was catered to our likes and dislikes. For us, lots of wontons, dumplings and noodles! We would recommend this to anyone interested in getting a very good knowledge of Hong Kong-ese food. Would join the tour again.
