Your tour begins with an 8.30am pickup from your central Hue hotel by your private guide (afternoon tours can also be arranged on request). Hop aboard a traditional cyclo (a 3-wheeled bike also known as a pedicab) and set out to explore the city from your unique vantage point, weaving through the traffic and gliding along the banks of the Perfume River.
Cross the bridge into Hue’s Imperial City, now a UNESCO World Heritage site, and jump off to explore the 19th-century citadel on foot. Listen as your guide explains the importance of the grand citadel, learn how its impressive fortifications were built by the Nguyen dynasty, and discover its significance as the former imperial capital of Vietnam.
Along the way, see the Flag Tower, the Nine Dynastic Urns, and the Nine Holy Cannons; admire the Thai Hoa Palace and Ngo Mon Gate; and imagine the former glory of the famous Forbidden Purple City (Tu Cam Thanh).
After taking in the highlights of the Imperial City, climb back aboard your cyclo for the return journey to your hotel.
