Begin with pickup at your Hue hotel, then travel to Minh Mang tomb, a royal mausoleum surrounded by thick forest on the west bank of the Perfume River. Continue to the Tomb of Khai Dinh, the second-to-last emperor of Vietnam, who’s buried under a bronze statue and gold-painted dome.
Visit the martial arts studio at An Cuu, a historic location of the Vo Kinh branch, which taught members of the royal court to fight. See the Tomb of Tu Duc: the emperor and his wife spent their time in graceful pavilions by a scenic lake here, and were worshipped by visitors to Hoa Khiem Temple.
Get a look at daily life in a small village, where locals make conical hats, and turn fragrant sandalwood and cinnamon into incense. Pause for a buffet lunch that includes traditional cuisine, Asian dishes, and Western foods.
Take in the Hue Citadel, the heart of the Imperial City, where three circles of walls protected the royal court: the Capital Citadel, Royal Citadel, and Forbidden Citadel ramparts. Tour Thien Mu Pagoda on the left bank of the Perfume River, then board a sightseeing cruise as the sun sets, passing fishing villages and sampans in the current. This tour concludes with drop-off in Hue.
