Long trip to get to the village. Long waiting for only a little bit of time watching the stars. Should start much later…

Magical evening
Ceres_B, Apr 2023
Fantastic adventure on our last night in Hurghada. The jeep across the desert was amazing. The bread making and camel ride was brilliant the beautiful sunset, delicious candle lit dinner and stargazing were all magical and informative. Thank you for a brilliant evening.
Great fun
Kenji_H, Apr 2023
Great Jeep fun riding. Dinner in tent was tasty. We are family with kids and fully enjoyed all the thing
Not what I expected
Vernica_H, Apr 2023
It wasn’t what I expected. The sunset and the sky view was nothing special, the telescopes were basic and the dinner was regular. The best thing was the jeep ride and the driver.
Nice trip

Amazing and fun experience
Jeevaka_A, Mar 2023
A genuinely fun safari adventure through the desert followed by an authentic meal in a Bedouin village. Watching the stars afterwards was a magical experience.
A desert Experience
Maria_A, Mar 2023
A lovely experience...desert sunset most beautiful....and great traditional meal The star gazing was spectacular and we explained The humble life of the desert people and our driver driver carefully upon our request to slow down A great experience
Enjoyable tour, but could be improved by spending longer with camels
Nicolas_H, Mar 2023
The tour is ok. Seeing the camels is ok, but it would be nice to walk around with the camel for longer, instead of going around for 10 metres, and then forcing the animal to kneel up and down all the time. The jeep over the dunes is fun. Once you arrive at the destination you can look around the desert and see the stars. To make it an even better experience I would suggest more time spent with the camels.
Great fun!

Very good! Book it!
Eni_K, Feb 2023
Musa - guide (The astronomer not astrologist 😉) was brilliant! Very interesting and intellectual. Tariq the driver also thank you! Very very good. Only thing is the desert was very very cold and I didn’t dress well for the weather so bring jacket, scarf etc. in the day it’s fine but during the night stargazing bit you’re gonna need it! Also there’s a bit of a mountain you need to climb stairs, so just be mindful of that. I have a health condition and it was bare-able for me to do. Overall book it you will have fun and meet different people! You get to ride camels, stargaze in desert, see sunset on mountain tops. Learn about village culture, eat cultural food (very very nice - better than my 4* hotel food) and go into desert dunes via jeep. Was very fun! About 4hrs total. Thanks guys again! Shukran! Eni

Disappointing at Best
Janice_D, Feb 2023
Moussa was a friendly and knowledgeable guide and excellent astronomer. As to the rest - the vehicle was not a jeep, it was a van with two facing boards for seats and no seatbelts, and the speed at which the driver intentionally took rough hills (for fun??) was blatantly irresponsible and dangerous. I have dined in Bedouin camps (and stayed over in two) so I was excited to do so again, but THIS camp was filled with garbage and too dirty to sit in no less eat in. I understand that the family who live there (who were very nice) can’t afford to keep the camp in better condition, but with the not-inconsiderable influx of cash these people bring to Viatour, Viatour could at least lend enough assistance to the family to clean the place up a bit. Very disappointing experience.
Amazing views of the night sky
Paul_W, Jan 2023
The night sky with zero light pollution is a wonder to see. Great guide who told us all about the different stars as well as showing us planets through a telescope. The driver was fun and took us on a roller-coaster ride through the desert which was good fun although a little unsafe due to land of seat belts in the back. Not for people with back or neck problems. Food was really nice and could help yourself. And the sunset over the desert is breathtaking.
Held up to everything that was promised!
Farhad_F, Jan 2023
It was a great experience and it held up to everything that was promised. I would recommend doing this during the summer as more of the Milky Way can be seen during summer time.
Very jumpy road, but the stars were amazing
Agnieszka_w, Jan 2023
The trip started weirdly with a 20m camel ride at a first stop. Everyone had to take turns and wait for all other tourists to give it a go, it felt like an unnecessary addition to the trip, but didn't ruin it in any way. Then we went on the road through the desert to get to the final destination. We were all packed in 4x4 cars with a cramped sitting space for 6 people in the back with no seatbelts whatsoever and the drivers seemed to enjoy making our lives horrible. They were going off-road and driving too fast through the ups and downs, making everyone in the car jump all around the place (again, no seatbelts). Felt like they were trying to show off and didn't care much for our comfort. Luckily, it was much better on the way back since it was dark and they couldn't go as fast as before. The stargazing was a truly amazing experience, we've seen Saturn, Jupiter and Mars through the telescope. The guide sent us picture of these sights later. There were 2 telescopes available, pointing at 2 different things every time, so it was a bit of queueing to see everything (we were around 25 people), but it seemed organized well otherwise. We've got some nice explanations of the Beduin life and got to taste some nice food for the dinner. We didn't get much of sunset view because of the clouds so it feels like we were lucky to be able to catch the stars and planets afterwards.

Excellent tour
Savithri_S, Jan 2023
Had the experience of Desert ride, food cooked by locals which was very good, and got a chance to see planets and important stars from a middle of the desert
Unique experience but poor execution
TangLeng_L, Jan 2023
Unique and interesting concept (stargazing) but poorly executed. We didn’t start well as the information on Viator showed a 3pm pick up time and approximately 5 hour tour. In reality, we were picked up at 1.30pm and dropped back to the hotel at 9pm. Given we had to pay $10 extra pp (so $40) for being further out, you’d expect them to put an extra van out to get us but no. We got picked up first and dropped off last, which added 2 extra hours to the trip. Musa is a charming, charismatic and knowledgeable guide however there were far too many people on the tour, only 2 telescopes to share and a lot of waiting and queuing for your turn. The camel ride was a farce- you literally get on for 1 minute as they take you on a 30 -metre circular walk. Not even sure why they bother to offer this bit. Jeep safari was quite fun, but we were 13 people (inc driver) packed into the Land Cruiser so that in itself was uncomfortable. Bedouin village was charming in a beautiful desert setting and the food was nice so no complaints there. The stargazing itself fell short. Because the group was so big, long queues for a quick look into the telescopes, and the explanations were superficial. The second guide alongside Musa (an apprentice I think) as he didn’t seem to know his subject well and was even reading points directly out of a book at some point! Finally, to cap it all, the jeep driver was reckless especially on the night drive back. Speeding, taking off road short cuts, driving with high beams, he was flashed constantly by other drivers as he was so reckless. No consideration at all that he had children in the car (with no seatbelts as there weren’t any). In summary, you get what you pay for (a mass market, low quality experience). I would not recommend it unless you can get a private tour with a responsible driver and cut out some of the unnecessary activities.

Okay trip but no need to do again
Viviane_W, Dec 2022
It was okay bit played out. 2 min camel ride of a group of 60 people. Then the jeep safari was great fun, arrived in a little village with a climb to a mountain hill to see the sunset. Sat around then for 2 hours or so to wait for star gazing well to look through a telescope and waited for food. Tour guide was very nice thou and knew what he was talking about Would not do again.
I Don’t recommend the tour
Olga_Y, Oct 2022
Lessons learned: read all feedbacks with a low rate. Everything is true. I had a very bad experience: it started that we need to pay en extra for our collection from the hotel (although the operator has confirmed that our hotel is within the range of the service), after we were squashed in a jeep with other 7 people (plus uncomfortable seats, no handrails to hold on to), after we needed to wait 1,5 hours before two other jeeps had arrived with 20 people. It was not a “Small-group tour (maximum 15 guests): A more intimate experience”! stated in the description. The queue to the telescope, the attitude of the staff also can not be attributed to a good experience. What was good: the stars and the sunset. Ronnel, I would like to request a refund of half the amount because the stated promises were not kept. Br Olga

- pick up was difficult,...
Andreea_P, Oct 2022
- pick up was difficult, we waited for 30 minutes at the main gate in front of the hotel as discussed . We ☎️ with 3 different persons in order for the driver to find us at the meeting point. - I do not recommend the food at all! It smelled weird and I had an awful stomach pain after eating it + star watching experience and catching the night in the desert is something worth doing + we enjoyed the drive back with the jeep, still would not recommend for people with back problems
Packed in like sardines in a can
David_l, Oct 2022
A 4x4 showed up to collect us at our hotel with 11 other people crammed into the back of it (in addition to the driver and 2 others in the front). There was no way that we could squeeze in (despite the driver insisting that there was enough room for us). So, we turned around and went back to our hotel.

Don't bother
Elaine_S, May 2022
For a start you are not in a jeep and it's not a safari. You go through the dessert in a 4x4, squashed in with at least 6-8 people. The driver likes to speed and at times it felt like we were on a roller coaster. Extremely uncomfortable and left us both with a really sore back and backside. To see the sunset you must climb lots of uneven steps which are steep. The sunset is beautiful though. The time and food with the Beduoin people was amazing and the guide really knowledgeable. Star gazing... you see 2 stars and the moon.

Great night sky in the desert
Dragos_I, May 2022
It’s a nice experience. Mohamed, our guide was very nice. He revealed us a lot of stars . The sunset wasn’t as expected , I don’t know if it’s a normal thing in the desert but there was a haze that prevented us from seeing the sunset. Also I really liked that it wasn’t crowded.
Had a good time
Isabelle_C, Apr 2022
Well organised tour. The keep safari was fun, we enjoyed the camel ride and loved seeing the sun set over the hills. The meal and the Bedouin village was excellent. The star gazing guide was great and made a big effort to explain all the constellation. We got a fantastic view of the moon. There was a lot of waiting around for the camel at the beginning
Superb
GortdonStewart, Mar 2022
A brilliant experience from start to finish from the off Road experience to the camel riding, bedouin experience with bbq and star gazing. Muhammed was a brilliant guide and very knowledgeable, highly recommended
Excellent value for money
robert_k, Mar 2022
Excellent Value for Money Mohammed was a wonderful guide Who clearly has a passion for the Bedouin way of life.
AMAZING TRIP
Mark_B, Mar 2022
What a fantastic trip, driver, guide, hosts were amazing. The keep ride was crazy and fun. Watching the sunset was truly beautiful and a moment to treasure. The stars, moon and knowledge of the stars was great, fabulous memories, pictures galore. And the food was authentic and delicious. Go on this trip so worth it
An absolute mismanaged disaster
Stephen_T, Mar 2022
This had all the makings of a great experience yet was actually the worst trip I’ve experienced anywhere in the world. The trip was advertised as a small group and included pick up from our hotel, so we looked forward to it being personal and fun. The first sign of unscrupulous behaviour was a request to pay an extra 100.le per person for collection from our hotel, I wanted to cancel at that point but the request was made after the cancellation window. I questioned the payment and took it up with ViaTour. The jeep arrived and began picking up passengers from local hotels, 7 people were collected and we expected that was that as the jeep seemed full. From there we were taken to a Mobil gas station and left for 90 minutes whilst Mr Mohamed organised for a couple paying for a private tour to join our jeep. We also met up with another 2 jeeps full of people. From here we were taken to what is basically a quarry! The jeep ride was ok but it soon became miserable again. We arrived at what was supposed to be a Bedouin Camp, and we’re basically left to our own devices for another hour. We also met other Jeeps and now there were around 50 people. Mohamed’s focus was on xan Egyptian party 90% of the time. During this period Mohamed was taking people on the one Camel for a 20 metre walk. This was the ‘Ride a Camel in the desert’ part of the trip! Then we were taken over to a Bedouin lady making traditional bread, at last we thought, some introduction into the Bedouin life but alas not. Mohamed explained the three ingredients of the bread whilst it was cooked. He then held the bread out and allowed people to hold it whilst tearing a section off. Basically you were expected to eat the but the person before you held? We declined! We were then given tea and left again, after an hour we were told to “follow me” and marched up a primitive set of steps, with no safety in mind, to the top of a windswept hill. The dust was atrocious, and similar to that from building MOT. Every time someone’s foot moved you sucked in a lung full of super fine abrasive dust. Mohamed then left everyone to there own devices again. That was the ‘Watch the Sunset’ part. People came down and discussion began about how bad the trip was, at this point we were about 5 hours in. The BBQ was only just being lit and again we were left. As darkness fell a telescope appeared that was more like a toy. He asked everyone to look at …… The Moon! The magnification could be outdone by photographing it with your phone and zooming in. The amount of people present meant this went on for some time. Next was the star Sirius, again nothing to see but it took ages. After this was more sitting around, people were actually asking if the could leave now without eating. Mohamed actually said that the Bedouin people are offended when this happens (take from that it’s a regular occurrence). Eventually the food arrived, by all accounts it was good, we had sore throats and didn’t fancy eating. People ate a small plate then made there way to the driver to demand being taken home. Mohamed popped up and demanded his 100.le or no ride home. Reluctantly and under duress everyone payed. The trip started at 13:40 and we got back at 21:00. Most of that time we were left alone. This trip had all the ingredients and I feel sorry for the Bedouin people for not being properly represented and showcased by Mohamed. People were desperate to learn about their life and culture yet received hardly anything. It was all about ticking boxes rather than a great experience. I emailed Viator regarding the extra 100le and they said they would email Egyptra Travel. Guess what, nothing back!! This trip gets readvertised using different product codes so it makes it hard to track feedback. I would certainly recommend avoiding it, and Egyptra Travel, there are better tours out there from people who care about your experience

Great trip but unlucky with weather
Enid_M, Mar 2022
We had a really fun afternoon with my family. Unfortunately we barely saw any stars because of the clouds, but naturally that's something no-one can control. The camel ride, the super fun jeep ride, the walk in the desert and seeing the Bedouin tradition and having a nice dinner made it worthwhile even though it was a cloudy day. And our guide did his best to look for the stars when there was a few seconds/minutes opening through the clouds and he promised to compensate us with some self-made footage about the Moon and other celestial bodies.

Great experience with the jeep safari. Mohammed was very friendly as a tour guide. Amazing experience with the star gazing, Mohammed was knowledgeable. Food was nice too. We went up the hill to see the sunset. Highly recommended.
