Witness the mummies at the Egyptian Museum
After early pickup from your Hurghada hotel, grab some sleep in your private, air-conditioned minivan on route to Egypt’s capital. Be sure to order a breakfast box (own expense) from your hotel beforehand.
After roughly five hours, arrive in Cairo and head straight for the UNESCO-listed Giza Plateau. Walk around the famous, 4,500-year-old pyramids, admiring the Great Pyramid of Cheops, the last remaining of the Ancient Wonders of the World, and seeing its two smaller neighbors of Chephren and Mycerinus. Then, enjoy a close-up look at the Sphinx and Valley Temple, both set in the shadow of the pyramids.
After lunch at a local restaurant, continue to the Egyptian Museum, home to ancient Egyptian artefacts spanning more than 5,000 years. See the highlights, including the Tutankhamun collection, which contains his gold death mask and jewelry. If you wish, visit the Royal Mummy Room (additional cost) to peer at the mummies of some of Egypt’s most important pharaohs.
Next, experience Cairo proper with time at the Khan El Khalil. Soak in the clamor of this massive, maze-like bazaar, shopping for souvenirs like rugs, silver, copper, and perfumes.
Lastly, return to Hurghada, ending your trip with a late evening hotel drop-off.
