What You Can Expect

Loch Ness Cruise Including Urquhart Castle and Loch Ness Centre and Exhibition

Take a cruise on Loch Ness and visit Urquhart Castle

Set off on your 3.5-hour journey to Loch Ness from Inverness Bus Station in the morning. Travel by comfortable coach to Clansman Harbour, enjoying colorful and historic commentary from your guide along the way.
Situated amongst verdant hills and mysterious waterways, Clansman Harbour offers a launch point into the long stretch of black water known as Loch Ness. Board the cruise ship and stroll the deck as your boat coasts down the river and into the myth-laden lake. Enjoy gorgeous natural vistas and keep an eye out for the mythical Loch Ness monster, Nessie.
After 30 minutes, you’ll arrive at the ruins of Urquhart Castle, one of Scotland largest castles. Disembark and take an hour-long independent tour of the medieval site. Afterwards, head to the visitor center to learn about the historic figures that inhabited or invaded this site such as King Edward I in the 13th century and MacDonald Lord of the Isles during the 15th and 16th centuries. Find out about the construction and destruction of the fortress, and the key role it played in the Scottish fight for independence. Don’t miss the display of authentic medieval artifacts before boarding a coach to the Loch Ness Centre and Exhibition.
At the Centre, you’ll have an hour to independently explore the seven themed, multimedia exhibition areas. Learn about the origin of the Loch Ness monster myth, nestled within the 500 million years of history and legend.
Afterward, relax on the scenic ride back to Inverness, where your tour concludes at the starting point by early afternoon.

Loch Ness by Jacobite tours is worth every penny. The tour guide Alan, is very witty and is pleasant to listen to. Also, quite knowledgeable. I felt a little rushed at the castle, it would be very easy to spend hours wandering the grounds. The visitor center and the film on the castle are worth visiting.

This was great! And we discovered our new favorite cold-weather drink of hot chocolate and single-malt scotch!

Although I am sure we spotted her, the tour was a lot of fun and a really nice day out on the water. The castle was fun to visit and an outstanding video of the history was a great element of the tour.

Very entertaining bus driver whose name I have forgotten already even though he said to remember him and say how good he was. Anyway apart from the cold wind and overcast day in the middle of summer the boat trip was informative and the beauty surrounds were fab. The castle remains were fascinating along with the story telling guide if you had time enough to sit around and listen but time was limited for those of us who like to read and climb everything. The Loch Ness center was good as well. Well worth the four hours.

We were a bit reluctant to take a tour as we don't usually like being very scheduled, but this tour was fantastic! Our tour guide Allan was both informative and funny, making the bus ride to the boat and the ride back very interesting. Urquhart Castle is lovely - you have about 55 minutes to explore. I would have loved a bit more time as we didn't really have time to look at the gift shop, but overall, the tour was really great - highly recommended!!!
