Ephesus is one of Turkey’s most impressive ancient sites, but many tours only include a whistle-stop visit. This full-day tour from Izmir takes in all the highlights of the archeological site; visits St. John Basilica, the Temple of Artemis, and the House of the Virgin Mary; and includes a delicious Turkish lunch and wine tasting in Sirince village. Hotel pickup and drop-off is included.
  • Full-day tour of Ephesus, the House of the Virgin Mary, and Sirince Village from Izmir
  • Explore the UNESCO-listed ruins of Ephesus including the Odeon and the Celsus Library
  • Visit the House of the Virgin Mary and St John’s Basilica, where John the Apostle is buried
  • Marvel at the remains of the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World
  • Enjoy wine tasting in the traditional Turkish village of Sirince
  • Great-value tour includes hotel pick-up, entrance fees, and buffet lunch
  • Small-group tour limited to 15 people ensures a personalized experience
Your tour begins with pick-up from your central Izmir hotel or cruise port. Traveling by air-conditioned coach, set out on the around 1-hour drive to Ephesus, and listen as your guide fills you in on the history of the ancient city, which was once the Roman capital of Asia Minor and at its peak between 1 AD and 2 AD.
On arrival, follow your guide and small group of no more than 15 people around the UNESCO-listed ruins, pausing to admire archeological wonders such as the Temple Of Hadrian, the magnificent Celsus Library, and the Great Theatre, which seats up to 24,000 people. Learn more about life in ancient Roman times as you peek into the Public Latrines and Roman Baths, stroll around the Agora, and walk down the grand marble-paved Arcadian Way.
After tucking into a delicious buffet lunch (included) at a local restaurant, pay a visit to St John’s Basilica, where John the Apostle is buried, and the site of the Temple of Artemis, which was once one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Continue to the House of the Virgin Mary, perched atop the Bulbul Mountain, where Mary is alleged to have spent the final years of her life. Head inside to see the shrine of the Virgin Mary, and perhaps drink from the spring, said to possess healing qualities.
Finally, head to Sirince where you’ll get a glimpse of life in a traditional Turkish village and indulge in a wine tasting of local wines. Be sure to sample the village’s famous pomegranate wine.
After a full day uncovering Turkey’s ancient past, return to Izmir, where your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.

The tour was amazing, be patient, as the drive is roughly 1 hours there and 2 back but the experience is breathtaking and wonderful. The guide was extremely friendly and knew his history far past what I expected. Thank you for a life time of a memory.

Superb guide Nizan, despite scorching heat of the sun we enjoyed this tour very much , our guide was so funny , have a good knowledge and good sense of humor. Food was so so but overall it was our best tour in turkey. Sirince village was so beautiful , very good people, Village of Olive oil and Magic colour of changing stone just amazing.I think the rate of local made cotton dress , wine also cheap and reasonable. Wine is very good slightly different from traditional wine , prepared with strawberry, pomegranate, just awesome.

Trips organizing, trip itself and the guide Nizan was Ok. We touched all points of interest and more than that and the guide was very helpful. He knew lot of histories regarding the places and was very pleasant. Lunch was simple, well prepared and in quiet location. Overall 5 stars.
