The Hierapolis excursion, at end...
Renate_P, Jul 2016
The Hierapolis excursion, at end, was a disappointment. Not regarding the place, but regarding the trips management that was a disaster.
We booked an excursion Small group to Hierapolis and Pamukkale from Izmir. Normally, as per tours description the trip must to be like that: Morning meets the guide and travel to Pamukkale visit the site and after that take the lunch. After lunch you have like personal time to visit the travertine or to swim on Cleopatras pool.
What happened in reality: we booked the excursion from Izmir, we were transferred on Selcuk, were we met with another guys coming from Kusadasi or direct from Selcuk means the agency organized one excursion 3 in 1. They came with delay from Kusadasi due to an Indian group with lot of baggage we waited until around 08.45 the minibus, and around 09.00 oclock we started to Pamukkale more than 2 hours was lost due to trips management.
We arrived in Pamukkale around 12.00 oclock, we visited one small shop with same jewellery and we lost one hour until to go to lunch. Had lunch nothing special and the feeling was that the lunch was only to be served and after that we started to visit the Hierapolis ancient city and the travertines. In total we spent there 2 hours only 1 hour and 15 minutes was free time. Imagine, how to visit entire ancient city only in 1 hour???? Also, the departures was forced due to Indian group that had to catch another transfer to another destination. Nice!!!!
Overall the trip it was a disappointment regarding the management and there is no excuse for it. 2 stars rating it is more than enough for trip management!!!!!
About the guide, he was ok, in terms of knowledge about the places visited.
