Get an early start on the day with 8am pickup at your accommodations in Jerusalem, then travel to Bethlehem in a private car with a personal driver/guide. Your first stop will be the Church of the Nativity, one of the oldest churches in the world, which was built on the site of Jesus’ birth. Visit the church’s Catholic, Armenian, and Greek Orthodox chapels, then continue to the ‘Milk Grotto,’ an underground cave beneath a Franciscan church.
See the fields at the edge of the city where biblical shepherds are said to have seen the star of the nativity, now the site of Christian shrines and a chapel that draws pilgrims from around the world. Drive out of the city into the Judean Desert: you’ll have views of the ‘Inn of the Good Samaritan’ and the Jordan Valley, then visit the place on the Jordan River where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.
Enter the city of Jericho to see Zacchaeus’ sycamore tree, with the option to add a trip up the Mount of Temptation (cable car own expense). Pause for a buffet lunch, then continue to the Dead Sea, a vast salt lake that’s 1,312 feet (400 meters) below sea level. You’ll have roughly two hours to swim in the Dead Sea, take a mineral-rich mud bath, or visit the Dead Sea’s duty-free shop before returning to your hotel in Jerusalem, where this tour concludes.
