When you are ready for contemplative time in Juneau, come out to these beautiful, weird, wonderful gardens. A young garden just entering its adolescent phase, I can't wait to see what the fully mature adult garden, with such an inspired designer/artist, becomes.
This garden is amazing! To see all the hanging baskets as one walks in and the stunning plants growing in the ' upside down ' trees was nothing short of beautiful!
Absolutely beautiful!! Reasonably priced. Personnel were friendly and helpful. They were very informed about the garden and its' plant life.
A worthwhile tour. Great garden concepts and the ride up the hill with a garden view of Juneau.

This is an absolute wonderland of color and beauty! I have 8 black fingers and 2 black thumbs and I had a wonderful time! If you have time, be SURE to go visit the gardens!
Went to Alaska on my honeymoon and this was the best day we had. The whale watching was perfect and the glacier was beautiful. I highly recommend this for new people to Alaska or if you want a fun filled day. It only rained a little the whole day. It was perfect and one I will always remember
Very pretty. The view was great. The guide was excellent and the personnel very friendly and helpful.
I'm a gardener so was quite interested and very surprised! My only complaint is that you have to find your own transportation to the gardens - not a big deal, we talked to the bus station and took a city bus that drops off just outside the entrance. Coming back just caught the bus on opposite side of road, 10-15 minute bus ride. Very worth it.
beautiful enchanted garden! the display of flowers and it's uniqueness takes your breath away!
Guide was very friendly and provided lot of information. She explained everything in a easy to understand manner.
This is one of the best trips I recommend. Staff is extremely friendly and the rain forest is just amazing. View on top of the mountain is fabulous!!!
It rains all the time in Juneau, it seems, but this is a rain-or-shine garden! A large electric cart takes about 15 guests at a time up the side of the mountain to show off the work of a man who has a passion for flowers. The driver/guide is witty, explaining the grounds. Upside-down trees have been made into beautiful planters along the way. At the top, riders can get out and walk on a wooden boardwalk to a lookout over the Juneau airport. Then, the cart takes the group back down to the visitor center. The center contains a gift shop, a little cafe, and a sitting area. Also, a TV monitor displays the image from a nest cam where a baby eagle lives in a tree on the property! Lovely, thoughtful displays. We noticed that we were the only people present who did not come here with a cruise-boat excursion, but it didn't matter. We took the city bus from downtown and saved some money! Note that the cart ride described in my review is the only way to visit you may not walk on your own. My only gripe: Why did I pay Viator a couple dollars MORE than the actual price of admission, and then find my own way on the city bus to boot?!
The gardens and guide were excellent . The only gripe is that we were told to catch a bus close to the pier. We found a place next to a gift shop but no-one had any idea of where the bus was. We eventually caught a taxi and returned by bus. Feel that the name of the street next to the bus terminus should have been given rather than vague instructions like bus stop is 5 mins from pier.
Definitely a worthwhile excursion. Great flowers, trees, and well informed guide. Loved taking the guided tram through the forest. The tree root flower baskets were so creative and beautiful. Mind boggling that all of this was created out of one man's imagination and persistence!
Definitely a different take on Alaska! Tour is short and sweet, worth doing as a filler.
This is a unique experience worth doing. The owners of the gardens take great pains to cultivate unique flower gardens on inverted tree trunks, and have carved out some lovely ponds and fountains throughout the grounds. The tour guides are local and very nice and well-informed. The history of the gardens are interesting, and you can even buy a guide that explains how to build your own upside down garden.
