Explore the 3,000-year-old Mendenhall Glacier on this 5.5-hour adventure tour from Alaska’s capital city, Juneau. Paddle out on the iceberg-covered Mendenhall Lake for about an hour until you reach Mendenhall Glacier. Then, spend about an hour to an hour and a half on the glacier. This was bar far the highlight of our cruise. Ben and Grant made us feel very safe and prepared for the adventure. I’ve never canoed nor walked on a glacier and I DiD It! They were educated about the ice and our surroundings. I would say go for it folk. You’ll never forget it. Thanks to Ben and Grant.

Our tour was fantastic from the scenery to the guides Abby and Joey. They both were fun and engaging with an abundance of knowledge about the glacier and area. The glacier itself was impressive, don’t miss out on the opportunity and even though some people may complain about having to paddle across the lake, it really wasn’t bad and if your group is putting in a good effort it makes it fairly easy. An FYI for all you cruise people; they will make sure you’re back in plenty of time, so no worries!

Joey and Spencer were the best! Spencer picked us up by the cruise ship and drove us to the area where we would get suited up in gear (waterproof pants & jacket, rainboots, helmet and a life jacket). We walked to the canoe and were off. There was a little bit of wind which made the paddling a bit challenging but we took frequent breaks. Along the way, we learned about some of the history of the area. Once we reached the glacier, we got clamp-ons for our boots and a walking stick. We walked up the trail to a few different viewpoints ON the glacier. It was gorgeous!!! We got a bottle of water and a few very healthy, delicious snacks in our waterproof bag, which was nice. The guys were very helpful and took plenty of pictures for us.

Guides Casey and Andrew were awesome, fun, knowledgeable,full of patience, and safety conscience. Wonderful expedition if you want to experience the glaciers. Remember this is a more strenuous experience and you need to be able to have good arm strength for rowing and balance for maneuvering around glacier.
