What You Can Expect

Tongass Wildlife Kayaking Adventure

Tongass Wildlife Kayaking Adventure

Get away from the crowds and onto the water for spectacular views and marine wildlife sightings! Our passenger van transports you to a remote paddling location north of downtown Juneau where your guide will choose a paddling route based on tides, weather, and the best chances of seeing wildlife for the day. Travel with your certified guide for about 30 minutes, passing Herbert, Mendenall and Eagle glaciers en route, before arriving at a private beach site located near Yankee Cove and Amalga Harbor.

Receive a safety briefing, get fitted into your gear and board a tandem kayak. This is an easy-to-moderate level paddle, meaning novices and families alike will enjoy the kayaking journey.

After getting outfitted and given a safety briefing by your guides, you’ll take an interpretive trail walk through the temperate rainforest where you'll then arrive and launch from a private beach in a tandem sea kayak. Paddle for about two and a half hours, looking for wildlife and enjoying the scenic wilderness while keeping a look out for humpback whales, orca, harbor seals, sea otters, steller sea lions, dall’s porpoise, eagles, heron and other marine birds as well as land mammals such as Sitka black tailed deer, porcupine, and black bear along the shore.

From glacier views to mountain views, marine wildlife to temperate rainforest, our scenic paddling locations on this trip are endless!

5 star rating: Highly Recommended June 2016

The guides were fun, friendly, and knowledgeable. Equipment loaned to participants was in great condition.

That being said, the 2 person kayak situation is awful. I was with a group of people who had no clue about what they were doing. This in and of itself would not have been an issue had they listened to the guides. For that reason and that reason alone I will never do another kayak adventure such as this.
