Meet for your 2-hour guided tour at the American Jazz Museum in the historical Jazz District of downtown Kansas City. Show up a little before your tour time to check in.
Once your tour gets started, your guide takes you through the museum’s exhibits as you learn about jazz music, its history, and major musicians, such as Charlie Parker and Duke Ellington. Plus, see famous artifacts, such as Louis Armstrong’s trumpet and a dress worn by Ella Fitzgerald.
At the different exhibits explore listening stations, mixing boards, and touch-screen interactives. Your guide also takes you to the Blue Room, a nightclub built inside the museum where live jazz music is played four nights a week.
After your tour ends, make your way over to the Kansas City Juke House nearby. Here you can enjoy a soul-food lunch before you set off on your next adventure in the city.
