Visit a private site with rock art and hear about the paintings made on the gorge cliffs over thousands of years. Your small group is limited to eight people for a more personalized experience of Nitmiluk National Park.

  • See Aboriginal rock art and learn about indigenous traditions from a native guide
  • Take a swim in the Katharine River

Make your own way to the Nitmiluk Boat Jetty, a drive of approximately 30 minutes from the township of Katherine. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure.

Board the open-wall boat and hear from your Nitmiluk River guide about the landscape and its significance to the Jawoyn People and the Katherine region.

Cruise through the first two gorges of Nitmiluk Gorge. In the first gorge, hear about the cultural importance of an ancient Aboriginal rock art site. Stop for a picnic lunch with your small group companions and guide, then have time for a swim before returning to the starting point at the end of 3.5 hours.

Between each gorge, there is a quarter mile (500 meter) walk that requires participants to disembark the boat then join the boat again in the next gorge.
