Parts of the road from Kathmandu to Chitwan are under construction, which causes delays. My trip to Chitwan was 8.5 hours. Because of a very scary section of the road and delays I choose to take the flight back. It was only 20 minutes.

Overall a great trip. We took the bus to Chitwan.Bad roads so it took 8hrs to get there. Got the plane back- 20 min flight! The accommodation was the Tiger Residency Resort- fab! Great staff, delicious food! Didn't participate in the elephant activities, didn't like the way they were treated.

Three stars. This tour was jam packed with things to do and overall, I enjoyed it. However, the treatment of the elephants was a little off-putting. They're chained most of the day. They are also hit or poked to do what the guides want them to do. If that doesn't bother you at all, go for it. If it does, I still recommend Chitwan, as there are numerous things to do, and seeing all of the animals in the wild was magnificent. The hotels, food, and Chitwan guide were all excellent.
