While in port in Kauai, take a 5-hour tour up to Waimea Canyon, known as the ‘Grand Canyon of the Pacific,’ at an impressive 3,400 feet (1,035-meter).  In stark contrast to Kauai’s lushness is Waimea Canyon State Park. Over thousands of years earthquakes and erosion have created dramatic variation in the landscape. Waimea Canyon, “The Grand Canyon of the Pacific”, is the showpiece of the tour and offers one of the best views of the western coast of the island.  We'll then drive through Hawaii’s first sugarcane plantation and to the town of Waimea, made famous by Captain Cook hundreds of years ago. Before concluding your tour back at your original departure point, stop to see the water fly high at Po’ipu’s Spouting Horn on the southern side of the island.

  • Shore excursion to Kauai's natural wonders, Waimea Canyon and Spouting Horn
  • Enjoy spectacular views after hiking up Waimea Canyon, the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific"
  • Learn Kauai history as you drive past Old Koloa Town and Waimea
  • Watch Spouting Horn spew water up to 50 feet into the air
  • Free port pickup and drop-off
  • Covered by Viator's worry-free policy: guaranteed on-time return to your ship

What You Can Expect

Kauai Shore Excursion: Journey to Waimea Canyon

Spouting Horn

Your tour will begin with pickup from Nawiliwili Harbor. From there, you’ll visit Waimea Canyon, the largest canyon in the Pacific at 14 miles long (22.5 kilometers), 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) wide and more than 3,600 feet (1,097 meters) deep. From the lookout you’ll see incredible views of the green valleys below.

Then, hop into an air-conditioned coach and head through the islands’ original sugarcane plantation, Old Koloa Town, as well as the site of Captain Cook’s first landing in Waimea. Your guide will provide commentary about Kauai’s rich history as you go.

Conclude your shore excursion with a visit to Spouting Horn in Po’ipu. Waters can shoot up to 50 feet (15 meters) high as the ocean surges under a lava shelf and up through the opening. After departing from Spouting Horn, your guide will return you to your original departure point.

Worry-free Shore Excursion:
We will ensure your timely return back to the ship in Nawiliwili Harbor for this activity. If your ship is delayed and you are unable attend this activity, your money will be refunded. See our terms and conditions for full details.

Excellent tour. The whole experience was wonderful. Tina, the driver and tour guide, was very knowledgeable and easy going. The canyon was amazing. Worth every penny to see this site. One of those places that a picture can’t really show how big it is.
