The guides were amazing teaching us so many things about Hawaii and the ocean! We saw multiple whales and dolphins. They talked about how whales come to this area and when they leave, how the babies drink the mamas milk, how they find a mate etc! It was fascinating! I am so glad we chose this type of boat instead of a big boat as we were so close to the water and it was so peaceful! Excellent adventure! I was shocked at how calm the ocean is away from shore!

Our family had a great time. Whales were not very cooperative at first but gave us quite a show at the end of the trip. Will and Laura were very friendly and shared a lot of information on the whales.

Seat is important on the boat

The guides were nice and informative. Because the boat was a motorized raft and we were sitting in back, we could not see the whales that were in front of the boat. Somewhat disappointing.

Close to whales, but consider which options are best for you

This was a fun trip, especially if you like speed boating over ocean waves. However, as a whale watching adventure, it has its plusses and minuses. If/when you discover a whale, it is best if the captain turns the boat sideways so all have a better chance to see the whales surface. If he/she keeps the boat pointed toward the direction of the spout (for easier navigation closer to the whales) those in the back of the boat are less likely to see them surface. We sat middle side of the boat, so we were able to see the whales we encountered, but our friends in the back had less visibility. Being in a Zodiac, you have the ability to get really close to a whale, but that is a game of chance. I think the better experience would be in a catamaran, where you can move about the boat more easily to be where the whale is, vs relying on the captain to maneuver into a position where 1 individual is better able to see.

The crew was amazing and informative and helpful! Will and Elijah did a great job and tried hard to find the elusive whales. It was a pretty windy rough day and was uncomfortable for us older adults - so a 3 star rating for our group. On a calm day for a younger group it would be much better.
