What You Can Expect

Luau Kalamaku and Buffet Dinner

Buffet Dinner

Luau Kalamaku has been voted ‘Best Luau Show’ on Kauai by Lonely Planet. To begin your entertaining evening, make your way to the historic Kilohana Plantation, or choose an option that includes hotel pickup. Upgrade to take a ride around the 104-acre (42-hectare) estate on the Kauai Plantation Railway before dinner. Enjoy the lush tropical gardens as you observe traditional Hawaiian crafts and try your hand at some fun island games.
The feast begins with torch lighting and a Hawaiian imu ceremony, in which a whole roast pig is removed from an underground oven. Dig into a bountiful buffet of island favorites, including mahi mahi, teriyaki chicken, lomi lomi salmon and a variety of local vegetables, fresh fruit and side dishes. Mingle with other guests as you dine, and complete your meal with a delicious tropical drink from the bar (own expense).
With your appetite satisfied, head inside the Luau Pavilion for an unforgettable show that tells the story of the first Tahitian explorers to land on Hawaiian shores. Watch the mesmerizing tricks of flame twirlers, plus the graceful choreography of Polynesian dancers wearing traditional costumes. Live music accompanies the show, including powerful drumming on instruments handmade by the musicians.
After the show, you’ll have a chance to meet the performers and take photos before heading back out into the warm Hawaiian night.

Excellent show! Loved it! The food was a bit to be desired, but the chicken was great! I loved the vendors in the beginning, however, wished they had stayed before the big show. Wanted to purchase more. Grounds are beautiful. Wait staff great! Tour bus transportation very nice, COLD air. Bring a sweater. I would recommend this to all!

The Luau Kalamaku was delightful! We enjoyed the atmosphere, music, show, and delicious Hawaiian cuisine. Women received Leis and men received shell necklaces. Photos were taken with the option to buy them which we did. The staff was friendly and the buffet line was organized and we went through quickly. We took the train tour of the grounds and saw animals, trees, plants and vegetation. Not sure we'd do the train tour again, but it was pleasant. The show was exciting with professional dancers. We could hear everything well. I recommend this Luau!

We really enjoyed the Luau at Kalamaku. They whole process is very smooth. When you first arrive you take pictures that you can purchase later for 25. No pressure is given. Then you can enjoy cocktails while you shop at various arts and craft vendors lining the beautiful grounds or you can sit and relax at your table. The show is a beautiful production that is well executed. We were so impressed by the dancers and the love they obviously have for their craft. Their smiles never left their faces!!! The food was ok, nothing we would rave about but the pork was good. Overall, an excellent Hawaiian experience not to be missed.

Buffet dinner was great. Plenty of food with a lot of variety. The show was fantastic. The dancers were great and told a wonderful story. The singers were amazing, very talented. Whole staff was very friendly and helpful. Only issue we had was with the transportation. We had to walk to another hotel at least 4 blocks away because we were told we could not park there and must walk. Coming back was dark and raining. Not a pleasant end to a wonderful evening.

Luau Kalamaku was the BEST luau I've ever attended. Free drinks, great pork and fixings, and the story in dance of Polynesians arriving in Hawaii. The costumes, the orchestra, the dancing were all outstanding! It was sooo much more than just a hula. Also, the bus ride from north Kauai to the south was only 14 extra! Really a great bargain!!

I've been to luaus before, but this luau was great. Food was delicious and entertaining was very good. My one complaint would be that the story line was a little too long. People were getting anxious sitting there. I would suggest shortening it a bit.

We arrived on time to the Luau. The place was really nice and open, and the music players and dancers started performing since we arrived. The dinner was really good. Since there were a lot of tables and it was a buffet, tables were called in order, to go and grab the food. There were two stations with the same food, and people was able to go on both sides of each station. The waiting time wasn't too long. You can also go back and grab more food if you want. After dinner the desserts were available on the same stations. Also, drinks are included. I really recommend the Hawaiian Blue Rum, delicious! While eating, dancers were performing in small groups but after dinner was over, the real show begun. The music, lights, customs, and choreographies were awesome! I really liked this experience. It is a great opportunity to spend a late afternoon with family and loved ones.

There was a lot of variety in the buffet dinner and the food was delicious! We loved the show and the fact that all the different dances/songs told a story. I would recommend this to anyone!

Fantastic show, and great food. The train ride prior to the festivities was enjoyable and informative--taking us on about 30 minute ride around the property. Highly recommend!
