We had a great time. The river was calm, peaceful, easy to kayak. The hike was interesting, Phil was knowledgeable about the island, the trees, the water. Had a great time at the waterfall, it was COLD when you first got in, but got used to it quickly. Great pictures were taken. THEN DISASTER. The rocks were slippery, I fell, cracked my head on the rocks, caught my wrist between two rocks. All of the guides were at my side immediately. No blood, just lots of pain. One of the guests was a paramedic, he helped them splint and wrap my wrist properly. Ice and pain meds were given, i made my way up the hill, had a bit of lunch, and hiked back to the kayaks. Needless to say, I could not use the oars to get back. Phil had me move to his kayak. Left on plane the next day, got x-rays, yes wrist is broken, Surgery is Thursday to put a plate in my wrist to hold bone in position. Great excursion, horrible ending, but it was MY FAULT, not theirs. Enjoy yourself, but be careful!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best thing I did on my vacation. Great tour guide Kelly who added lots of interesting facts along the kayak and hike portion.
Great introduction to the beauty of Kauai. Our guide was wonderful and we had a great group. This is a good outing for people without a lot of hiking or kayaking experience. Highly recommend
Saw way more than I thought I would see. Our guide was great and was very informative. I would recommend this tour to anyone that wants to see the true beauty of Hawaii. The hike can be a challenge just bring proper footwear.
This is an awesome adventure but need to be somewhat of good physical shape.
This tour was fun and informative. Our tour guide was great. The tour was muddy and got slippery at times. However, we got a walking stick was really helped.
My husband and I visited Kauai for our honeymoon and absolutely loved it! One of the highlights was kayaking the Wailua River. Our guide, Phil was professional, laid back and a lot of fun. The Wailua river is absolutely beautiful. We also enjoyed the short hike to the waterfall where we had a light lunch. We would love to do this again and will recommend it to our friends and family!
There were 3 of us ranging from ages 18 to 58. We all had a fantastic time! The hike was challenging but not too challenging. I highly recommend water shoes because the trail was very muddy and it included walking through water. Lunch at the waterfall was a nice surprise. Brian is an absolutely wonderful guide. He made sure we were safe while we were having fun.
Our guide, Josh, was awesome. He gave an entertaining tutorial about how and how not to paddle and steer a kayak. We had an awesome lunch by the beautiful waterfall--can't beat that scenery!
Had a great time. Kayaking was fairly moderate except when the wind kicked up but not to strenuous. Hike through the rainforest was very beautiful. The falls were amazing! Be forewarned though, if they tell the the trail is muddy, that means you will be up to you lower calf in mud, not just a little slippery here and there. Be sure to have footwear that washes easily or that you don't mind getting rid of afterwards.
Great little adventure, tour guide was great, route was challenging enough and even in the muddy terrain we had a great time. Lunch was sufficient and fresh. Would definitely do this again.
Our family had a fabulous time! Our 11 and 13 year old boys thought it was great and even the 16 year old daughter had a good time. Our guide Trevor was informative and fun. Bring shoes that you can get wet and hike in. The hike is muddy. Keen closed toe shoes worked well.
Our tour guide Kris was very patient, informative and personable. It was a beautiful kayak trip and hike. Just make sure to wear good shoes that can get wet, but that are also good to hike in. I loved it as well as the two other people in my party.

Our experience could not have been any better. Fast and easy check-in. The company provided large 'dry bags' for our personal items in addition to ice cold water. Our guide was FANTASTIC! He provided a thorough demonstration on kayaking for those who had never paddled before. On our paddle down-river our guide gave us a history of the area and told us about the Royal Hawaiian traditions that were part of the history. After portaging the kayaks there is a bit of a climb to get up the slope to the hiking trail. Another adventure party member slipped in this area and fell into the river. Bring or wear water shoes or hiking shoes for this portion of your journey as the trail is muddy and difficult to traverse in some areas. The water shoes will come in handy when you arrive at the beautiful falls at the end of the trail. Our guide packed in and provided lunch for our group prior to the return hike and paddle up-stream. After our journey he provided tips for places to dine and visit around the island AND provided an ice cold fresh cut pineapple for all of us to enjoy as we cleaned up our gear and said our goodbyes to the new Ohana we made on the trip. I would recommend this trip and the charter service to anyone.
Be ready to get muddy. We went in December, and the trail was very difficult to manage with the mud. However the younger people in the family had no troubles with the trail. The waterfall was beautiful and well worth the hike.
Excellent experience from welcome at office through great trip with guide, Jamie! There WILL be mud that is sometimes slippery so wear appropriate footwear without socks!
We had a great experience on our Wailua River and Hike trip. My wife and I loved the views from the river and the hike was just right to see the fauna and flora. The guide was awesome and the water fall was the big pay off. We totally recommend this trip.
This was so much fun! Well worth the time! The tour guide Pete was great and knowledgable about the island and the property. The equipment was well maintained, and the water wasn't deep, so it was very kid friendly.
This adventure is the essence of Hawaii! Beautiful scenery all along the approx. 40 min. the river. The hike as a little challenging at times be sure to wear hiking-type sandals/water shoes - no flip flops! path was mostly flat and was dry the day we went. Jamie our guide was knowledgable and made you feel relaxed he carried our picnic lunch included in the price, food was good! The Secret Waterfall is unbelievable! Swimming in and around the falls is like a fantasy! The company provided waterproof backpacks for each kayak great for your phone/camera , etc. Recommend you bring/ buy bug repellant at the base store. Reasonable price for the adventure. Would highly recommend if you like to be active!

The hiking was awesome and so was the Kayaking adventure, I would recommend this to anyone
Everything (kayaking, hiking, and swimming at the waterfall) was great. The guide, Sage, was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I felt the tour was short in each segment and wanted it longer, but it probably means it was that good. The weather was very nice, too. If it rained before or duing the tour, the whole experience could be different, but it is life.
This is an excellent excursion. We had Kelly as our guide and he was knowledgeable, patient, and interesting. The scenery is spectacular and the kayaking and hike were adventurous, but not difficult. Everyone at Smith's was very polite and accommodating.
