Helicopter Flight Over Pigeon Key with Optional Sombrero Lighthouse Tour

Helicopter Flight Over Pigeon Key with Optional Sombrero Lighthouse Tour

This 10-minute helicopter tour around and over the Florida Keys begins at the Florida Keys Marathon Airport, located along the Overseas Highway in the city of Marathon. Enjoy an amazing view of the famous Seven Mile Bridge, soaring along and over the eastern side while learning about the storied history of the beautiful Florida Keys. Swoop down toward the clear blue water and check out the variety of marine wildlife below — like sting rays, dolphins and sharks — plus the coral reefs just below the surface. Then it’s on to historic Pigeon Key, a small island that’s home to eight buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. The island was originally known as “Cayo Paloma” (translated as Pigeon Key), named for large flocks of the white-crowned pigeons that once roosted there.

As an optional upgrade, extend the flight an extra 10 minutes to pass over the historic Sombrero Key Light, located near Key Vaca. This unique, cast iron lighthouse is located on a mostly submerged reef, 50 miles northeast from Key West.

The tour ends with a flight back to the Florida Keys Marathon Airport.
