This was an absolutely fantastic experience. I am glad I opted for the 2 day trip rather than the one day as it gave more of a chance to explore this modern day ruin. The fact that the cost covers the transport, food, accommodation and guide means that it is not as expensive it first seems. On the note the guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and put our safety at the forefront of the tour. I defiantly recommend taking this tour.
It says to tell you what I saw and what were the best bits well but I can't describe this experience at all. I can only highly recommend it and tell you that you must just go see it yourself. Don't go with a massive group for a few hours... truly experience the city. This is Two days of significant amounts of walking wear good shoes, seeing things you hope will never happen again because you never want this to happen again and learning about life back then and now. Our fantastic driver and brilliant tour guide took us to some once in a lifetime places. It was sad and amazing at the same time. The most important thing was learning about the unsung heroes of the accident and our tour guide really showed us the greatness of these awesome people. Finally one note about the visit, you need to be fit, healthy and steady underfoot. Some of the areas are uneven, overgrown and have bugs and bees - much to my joy, they have bees. Nature is reclaiming the city! If you are even considering a trip to Chernobyl this is the tour for you!
I met a group of wonderful tour mates and had a great time. Our tour director, Sergi was excellent. One word of warning, while it may be safe in terms of radiation, I'm not convinced that we weren't exposed to asbestos from ceiling and floor tiles.

Very informative tour. Thanks to the guides for their patience and friendly staff at hotel in Chernobyl.
The area has been photographed so many times, but being there is altogether different. I didn't realize how large the zone was or how much infrastructure had been built to make life there so enjoyable for the workers and their families.
To think about all the hopes and dreams of those living there and then to be told to leave due to an invisible threat.
Found propaganda left behind quite interesting. Also training manuals tossed about made me wonder how trained were the workers in the plant?
Don't think you could visit the site with as much freedom if this area were in the US! Climbing up DUGA a blast!
