Ring of Kerry is amazing and must do. Please keep in mind that this tour does use a van which is so much nicer than one of those big buses that go around. However, having said that, the tour company mixes different tours in one van so some people will end up waiting for other groups to complete. Well, let me explain. Di was amazing telling us all the different gossip and funny tales of each of the little town we drove through. There were three different tours on this one van that we started out, Valencia Island bicycle tour, Skilleg Michael Boat Tour, and Skilleg Michael experience tour. We all started out going around the Ring of Kerry stopping for photo spots. Then we drop off the bike tour folks in a little town while they go around the Valencia Island, the rest of us goes to the Skillig Michael Experience Center. The boat tour folks leave from the pier on a pretty rough ride out to the two islands where the recent Star War films were shot. The rest spend some time at the experience center and they get a van tour of Valencia island. Everybody meets back up at the little town of Portmagee in the afternoon to continue the second half of the Ring of Kerry tour. You do get to see a lot during this tour, but it must have been frustrating for the folks who had to wait for the boat to come back since we were one hour late due to the bad sea. Quite of few of us got sea sick on the boat even though the weather was quite nice. Well, I still highly recommend this tour, but again... you need to know how the tour works. Di is great and really try to accommodate everyone's needs and concern.
Di, our tour guide, made this such a personal and wonderful experience. One that I will never forgot!
First, I do not think it would of been half as good as it was without our guide Di! She was amazing driver, history and what a great Irish Fairy Tales she can tell you in that wonderful Irish accent! The day was amazing as were the unbelievable sights some of the prettiest coast in the World this is not to be missed. The west side of Ireland was my favorite by far and Killarney is centrally located where you can take the Ring of Kerry and/or the Dingle Peninsula which I thought was the best of the two we drove ourselves through the Dingle Peninsula. I would highly recommend using Viator as all the tours were semi private, guides were good Di was great and safe, comfortable nice vans.
Our tour guide Michael was fantastic -- but unfortunately the day we went out was incredibly foggy and so there wasn't much to see. We were able to go out on the boat to see the islands, but we could only see the bottom of the islands. Same with Ring of Kerry -- we drove around the whole area but half of the normal scenic spots we didn't even really stop bc you couldn't see past a few feet away from you. It was a shame as this was the only tour I paid for on my whole trip, and the only foggy day! Regardless, Michael tried to keep spirits up and told a lot of great stories and interesting information along the way. If it was a clear day, I am quite sure this would be a day to remember.
The tour guide was amazing. Very informative and it was a smaller tour which I prefer. Unfortunately due to rough waters we were unable to take the boat trip to the Skallig islands which I hear is quite common. Still waiting for my back though for the missed boat trip.
