Pay your respects at the most notorious of all Nazi concentration camps, Auschwitz-Birkenau. If you choose the guided option, you’ll learn all about the history of this somber place from your guide. Otherwise, tour at your own pace without a guide. This is a convenient way to visit the important site from Krakow.
Hotel transfers are included

Visit the Auschwitz I, Auschwitz II-Birkenau, and Auschwitz III camps
Wow what a place. Truly harrowing, but I thoroughly believe we should all go and see the atrocities the people had to go through. Gives a real perspective of life then and an insight to the scale of it when you look at people's belongings
The tour was heavy but the company that got us there and got us home was lovely. They do not tour you around the grounds. If you are expecting a tour guide, this is not it. This particular tour is more of a ride, drop off, and drive home but still...if you are in Krakow, this museum is something to definitely visit and respect. I highly recommend this tour as it made it as easy as possible to visit a place the world should see.
We were picked up with a very hot car, we had to change car because an older coupled complained about it. Did not help much. Needlessly hurried driver. We didn't feel safe with him. We arrived just before 15:00. We had two guides and felt the tension between the two. One explained to us in English and then the other added some details in Polish and the first one translated it then in English. Does not increase trust in your guide! In Auschwitz 1 we were told that the tour would be shortened because of the heat. Ridiculous reason. We came from all over the world and had paid for the full tour. In Birkenau we made a very short tour, we stood on the disloading platform and then turned left, visited 1 block inside and that was it. Netto we were 3 hours in Auschwitz. And afterwards a very hurried drive back to Krakow. Very very disappointing. Never again with Viator.
Thanks Patrick the driver , who went out of his way to drive us back to our Airbnb after pick up from nearby hotel . A family of 5 adults, without two ids !!! Large queue at Auschwitz so he dropped us off at Birkenau then returned after 1.5 hours to drop off at Auschwitz . I went for non guided cheaper option as there were 5 of us but maybe a guided tour may have been better option . You can pick up a lot of information from passing guided tours ! However there would have been no tour without Patrick !
If you are simply looking for a ride to the site and back, that is all you will get on this tour. We were picked up at our hotel. The van was clean and air conditioned. Our driver did a nice job of getting us around safely.
Our first stop was Auschwitz I. We got off the bus and assumed we would go into the museum. Instead we got into a line to get tickets. They were previously reserved through our Viator booking and we needed to pick them up by showing our IDs. There was no communication from our guide and mass confusion.
We spent about 30 minutes getting tickets and then got back on the bus and were driven across the street to Auschwitz II-Birkenau. Again, no communication from our guide. Once there, we had 70 minutes to self-tour and literally had to run to see just some of it. There is no way to see it all in 70 minutes. We were rushed just to see a small portion.
We got back on the bus and drove back to Auschwitz I. It took about 15 minutes in line to get through security. We had two hours to self-tour. This was ample time.
We then got on the van to head back. Throughout the tour, our guide did not communicate with us at all. Everyone on the van was confused. We constantly had to pry information out of him and there was a general feeling of confusion for all on the tour. This was frustrating and culminated in us all being dropped off in the middle of Kraków at the end of the tour with no communication. We literally stopped out of the blue and were told to get off in a place that nobody was familiar with. Again, mass confusion! Thank goodness I had a working phone and was able to navigate my party back to our hotel.
I loved seeing and exploring the history. It was an unforgettable experience. I would recommend buying the little guidebook at the gift shop before exploring. It was cheap, informative, and helpful!
Overall, this “tour” was not a tour at all. It was simply a ride riddled with confusion and disorganization.
