What You Can Expect

Auschwitz-Birkenau Tour from Krakow with Private Round-Trip Transfer

Visit Auschwitz-Birkenau with private transportation

Established in the early 1940s by the Nazis, Auschwitz was originally intended for Polish political prisoners. Later, when it was extended to include the neighboring site of Birkenau, it became an extermination camp for primarily European Jews, killing an estimated 1.1 million people.

Begin your trip at your Krakow hotel, where a driver will meet you at your preferred pickup time. Arrive outside the town of Oświęcim around 1.5 hours later, where you’ll join up with your guide at the camp’s visitor center.

Enter the gates of the complex under the chilling inscription of ‘Arbeit macht frei’ (‘Work sets you free’) and explore the key buildings and exhibitions that preserve the memory of the many lives lost there.

Learn how the Nazi camp functioned as you pass the barracks and watchtowers, as well as the gas chambers and crematoriums. Your guide will take care to discuss the harrowing stories in a sensitive manner as you go. You will have a brief break to eat a pre-packed lunch (own expense), as there are no eating facilities at the camp.

Afterward, visit the camp's memorial, and spend a quiet moment to remember the lives of the victims. Your tour will conclude with private transportation back to your Krakow hotel.

I chose this tour as it was a Christmas present for my 86 yr old mum. There were just the two of us and I can highly recommend it. The driver was informative and helpful and the whole thing was thoroughly well organised. It was definitely worth the extra as just the walking around Auschwitz 1 and then later Auschwitz 2 was quite a jaunt, without having to walk between the two camps. I would also say that apparently visitor numbers to the camps are treble in the summer months and wow, that would be heaving, it seemed fairly busy to us even in January.

Michael, our driver for the private round trip transfer, was excellent. He was very interesting to talk to and the journey passed rapidly! He gave us some fascinating insights on Poland and increased greatly our knowledge and understanding of the country. He was also an excellent driver.
Our guide for the tour of Auschwitz- Birkenau was also excellent. This is not an experience about which one uses the word enjoyable! However, the quality of the tour was of a very high standard and we gained an in-depth understanding of the background to this site, how it was built, how it operated and, insofar as is possible, some idea of just how horrific it must have been to be there. But it is impossible to imagine the reality for those who suffered there.
This is a tour that should not be missed but it will leave very deep impressions that will be difficult, maybe impossible, to ever fully forget.

Exceptionally well organised. Our driver Pieter picked us up directly outside our accomodation and ensured that we were checked into the tour. Booking this tour gave us the flexability to spend as much time as we wanted to.

Our driver was superb: courteous, safe, enjoyable and knowledgeable. Even though city streets were closed, he found us at our hotel on time. He ensured that we got into the correct tour and transferred us between locations. The tour guide was also excellent. Extremely pleased!

We were collected from our hotel in an executive air conditioned vehicle by Conrad, who I cannot rate highly enough and a real credit to discover cracow. He was friendly, knowledgable and spoke excellent English and immediately told us that he was our driver for the day and we were the only guests so if we wanted to stop anywhere or have a comfort break all we needed to do was say. Inside the vehicle was a drop down TV upon which he played a very insightful documentary on the camps. This personal service meant that we didn't have to queue for hours with a coach , it was a real door to door personal service. Our actual guide within the camps was insightful, knowledgable but at all times respectful of the memories and souls who lost their lives, or loved ones.Visiting Auschwitz Birkenau should be compulsory for all mankind. Haunting, chilling, eerie but a true testamant also to extremes of mans nature... Hate and pure evil on the one compassion and sheer will to survive against all the odds on the other.
