Krakow Sightseeing Combo: Nowa Huta and Hop-On Hop-Off Tour

See magnificent Wawel Cathedral on your hop-on hop-off city tour

The communist regime created Krakow’s suburb of Nowa Huta at the end of World War II as a location for heavy industry and as a model communist community. Before long, the district went from being a center of political propaganda to a place of protest against Soviet control.

Begin your tour with pickup from your Krakow hotel in a communist-era minibus, equipped with audio commentary. Accompanied by your expert guide, journey to the district of Nowa Huta.

Hear fascinating tales from your guide about the challenges faced in the district during the communist era as you travel in your minibus. See examples of Nowa Huta’s characteristic architecture and explore the area on foot for 30 minutes, concluding your guided tour in the Old Town.

Before parting ways, your guide will give you a hop-on hop-off bus ticket, valid for 24 hours from first use. Use the ticket at your leisure, soaking up fantastic views of Krakow’s top attractions, including the Jewish quarter or Wawel Hill. Enjoy seven stops to hop off to explore (see the Itinerary for a full list of stops), as well as audio commentary on board.

4 star rating: Recommended April 2013

The weather was treacherous and our guide was delayed some 15 min because of the snow. We had a second tour booked in the afternoon which meant we had to get back slightly earlier that normal. He was very accommodating, charismatic and funny. Passionate about his country and people and especially Nowa Huta (being a resident himself!!) Even without formally studying English, his grasp of the language and ability to make universal jokes, had us and a Dutch couple in stitches. It was as cold inside the Nisa as it was outside, but this iconic vehicle got us everywhere we needed to, no matter how much snow was thrown at it. Definitely an experience worth having.

3 star rating: Worth doing October 2014
