Definitely a highlight to our trip so far

We had an excellent tour of both the Batu caves and the Elephant sanctuary, both places we just amazing. Elephants are my favourite animal in the world and I’d been looking forward to that part of the trip for months but the addition of the caves with the Hindu temple inside (which were so impressive) made it an even more special day. Our guide VJ was so helpful in giving us history and information about not only the places he took us but also Malaysia in general, he even gave us advise for other places to visit during the later stages of our trip. He seemed to really enjoy what he does which made learning about the history all the more enjoyable. Highly recommend this trip.

Amazing Day

We were collected from our hotel by our wonderful guide, who took us straight to the Batu Caves, our first stop on a very busy day. this is a fantastic place very busy with people and monkeys the temples are stunning, the giant statue is just wow. The climb up the 272 steps is well worth it, just be careful coming back down as they can be a bit slippery. We had about 45 mins but I think a little longer would have been good to explore more of the temples. We then had quite a long journey to the elephant sanctuary, it soon passed as our guide was very chatty. We had gained some time so we stopped of at Deerland a small zoo with deer and reptiles ( a nice bonus) Next stop the ellies, what a wonderful experience, we fed them sugarcane and watermelon and watched the big ones get a bath, unfortunately the river was too high for the little ones so we unable to go in and bath them, but still a fantastic time On our way back we took a little detour to go and see the royal palace which was much appreciated. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for a magical day

The caves were nice! At the bottom...

The caves were nice! At the bottom theres a sign for volunteers to bring up the bucket of sand and a brick to the temple up the 200 steps, and we did it, even my 6 year old. I carried my 3 year on my back while holding a brick in each hand in 87 degree weather. YOU CAN DO IT! It was a good workout and theres monkeys all along the steps and temple who are not afraid to grab your food right out your hand so zip up your purses. Theres an extra tour for 30ringgit into the dark cave that we didnt have time for, but our guide told us its mostly historic information and donation stuff about an hour long and you would wear a headlamp. I wasnt interested esp. with young kids. The elephant sanctuary was very cool! The kids really enjoyed feeding them. We wanted to bathe the baby elephant but due to high water level because of the rain they couldnt safely give the elephant a bath. I was pretty sad about that. I think our tour guide took notice and he took us on a bonus tour to deerlands, and paid for our entry and snacks to feed the deer. It was very sweet of him. He was very nice and considerate! The kids enjoyed the deerlands very much and got to hold a bearded dragon and a huge snake python?
