What You Can Expect

Eat Like a Local: Kuala Lumpur Hawker Center and Street Food Tour by Night

Enjoy a Food Tour in KL!

Meet the guide and the rest of the small group at the Taman Paramount Light Rail Transit (LRT) station in Petaling Jaya. Hop aboard a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle for a quick trip to a Kuala Lumpur neighborhood of the guide’s choosing to begin this evening food tour.

One possibility would be the Bangsar area, boasting a wide variety of food spots like mamak stalls with traditional Tamil-Muslim cuisine, plus South Indian banana-leaf restaurants and Malay warungs, or small, family-owned restaurants offering both local and Western food.

Also, visit some of the food stalls in a round-the-clock hawker center (an open-air food court) in Petaling Jaya, or head to Brickfields to see some of their South Indian restaurants and Chinese coffee shops serving traditional Chinese fare like dim sum.

Allow the knowledgeable guide to make the selections of local favorites. Try dishes like nasi lemak (coconut rice with chili paste, anchovies, peanuts and vegetables; stir-fried Chinese noodles; Indian breads with chicken, fish and mutton curry; desserts like ondeh ondeh (rice balls with palm sugar and coconut shavings).

We really enjoyed the tour. We sampled local food we would never have tried otherwise. Charlie did a great job in taking us around and pointing out different things as we went round four different markets. Well worth it

What a wonderful evening with Fala, our food guide, as well as Geraldine and Lois from NZ! Sampled the 3 different main types of cuisine around KL and was given the background and history of Malaysia - had a great laugh, soaked up the atmosphere, ate and drunk lots of different things we wouldn't probably have had the nerve to try on our own - it gave us the confidence to try some other dishes later on. We would thoroughly recommend this trip as a good way to experience Street food.

I would recommend this to anyone interested in all things foodie - we would never have sampled any of the fantastic food without the guidance of the fabulous Charlie. For anyone wondering we ate everything and weren't even the slightest bit sick afterwards so go for it!

Great food and very authentic places. Charles took us in his very comfy van to the different areas. It was a great choice to do a night tour as the temperature was much nicer to go from one place to another and eat outside in the street. Highly recommend it.

A must for all visiting Malaysia! Our tour guide Charles was amazing! He took us to some great places, was accommodating, friendly and informative. There were 2 other couples on our tour was an ideal number. Managed to go to a night market as well which was on my list of must do and #39;s! Recommend to all!

Charles was a great guy and very knowledgable! Love all the local haunts that we went to and the market was an eye opening experience.
There was no shortage of food and by the end we were full to the brim.
Fabulous way to start our holiday.
