Amazing tour. Couldn't fault anything. Nobu, our guide was wonderful. So alloquant and poised when talking about the bomb that destroyed hiroshima. A must when visiting japan.
We did this tour from Kyoto as we already had our Green Rail Pass, there is a Shinkansen that gets into Hiroshima with plenty of time to connect to this tour, meeting place is in a hotel right next to the station and very easy to find, tour was fantastic, well organized and we had time to do and see what we wanted to, we were back at Hiroshima station in enough time to catch our Shinkansen back to Kyoto, a really great tour
Without a rail pass it isn't possible to book a reserved seat on the bullet train from Kyoto to Hiroshima from Australia. We knew we going to be be travelling during a major Buddhist holiday weekweekend so were worried if we didn't have train tickets booked ahead we wouldn't get to Hiroshima and Miyajima. Because of this we booked through Viator. It turned out to be a good decision on all fronts. The organisation was simply amazing and the tour guides provided insights you can't get by reading a travel guide. The major sites are unquestionably interesting. But the things we enjoyed most - talking to the various guides that helped us, because there are many on this trip. Someone takes you to Kyoto Railway station and puts you on the train, someone else meets your at the end point etc, etc - a level of help I haven't really experienced before, but great when you are jet lagged. Historical information aside we talked to our various tour guides about their families, their jobs, their own travels, their university experiences and shared our information with them. We are sorry we can't remember the name of the woman that took us to Kyoto Railway Station and the woman that conducted the site seeing trip from Hiroshima Station, they were both wonderful. We travelled on 19 August. The sites are iconic but the travel guides we had for this trip are even better and more interesting.
This tour was amazing. It was very informative and the gour guide was fantastic..i would def recommend taking this tour
Good tour, very interesting and learned a bit more about Hiroshima. Miyajami Island is beautiful.
Trip to Hiroshima was the highlight of our trip to Japan. At a holistic level -given the background and history surrounding the city - the trip can be quite poignant and sombre. For us the key value add was the presence of Amy San - our tour guide. A sprightly 72 year old year Japanese woman she was in her Mom's womb when the bomb was dropped in the city, her insights and deep understanding of Japanese perspective and culture made us wiser and richer. I will never forget the humility that she displayed in acknowledging a mistake that she had made during the trip. We feel blessed and honored that we did the trip with Amy San. I was told that she only does 2-3 trips a month, so would advise future travelers to plan accordingly
The tour was so wonderful. It was moving and historical. Our guide was fabulous and so knowledgeable. We loved the island-- lovely and fun. Great tour overall!
Absolutely go to Hiroshima Peace Memorial, but try to spend more time inside the museum, to see artifacts from people who were affected. Very moving, but you need time to read all the notations on the exhibits. I was very happy to see Hiroshima has risen from the ashes and is a vibrant, modern city.
This was an excellent way to see Hiroshima and Miyajima Island whilst staying in Kyoto. We were very well taken care in terms of the train to and from Hiroshima and our guide Nobu was excellent.

A well planned out trip, allows adequate time at every place you visit. Our guide Akiko was amazing and very knowledgeable and enhanced the complete experience. Would definitely recommend this tour.
Just loved this tour. Miyajima Island was great and we were lucky to see a wedding happening in the temple. Hiroshima Peace Park and Museum were a ....must see...when visiting this area. Our tour guide was great and the bullet train journey just wonderful. I can highly recommend this tour.
Please refer to my previous review, it never fails to amaze me that Viator works so well. I sit at my desk in North Queensland, Australia, and have organised trips and excursions all over the world with Viator and never once have I had an issue. The guides are always where they should be, are of great quality and provide excellent service. I have sung your praises many times and have numerous friends who are now Viator converts. Keep up the great work.
This was an absolutely stunning tour. The morning spent in Miyajima Island was unreal. It was so beautiful due to the Cherry Blossoms being in full bloom, the countless tame deer roaming around and of course the floating Torii Gate. The it was on to Hiroshima, which was so sad, but interesting and again Hiroshima itself is a gorgeous city. A truly spectacular day.
Great tour - wonderful guides - very happy in our choice of tour company
Everything went exactly as planned. Tour guide was informative and well versed in local knowledge.
Great tour with a lovely and professional guide. Highly recommended.
Excellent tour! Our guide was knowledgable and engaging! Heart wrenching stories of Hiroshima and scenic shrine at Miyajima! Highly recommended.
Lovely tour guide who gave plenty of commentary and was interested in her job. Visit to the island not far from HIROSHIMA a bit of a tourist trap and better to have less time here and cover history of Hiroshima at the Museum more, and even a tour of the city while on the Bus.
I'd liked more time at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and less time at Miyajima Island. The Peace Memorial is a moving experience.
We had a really friendly and knowledgable guide. Well learned a lot about Hiroshima and found it extremely interesting and obviously very somber. The trip or Miyajima island was excellent as well. We very extremely impressed by the Great Torii gate in the sea and the Itsukushima Shrine was beautiful and again made interesting by our guide. Had a lovely lunch in one of the many restaurants. We would recommend this tour without hesitation.
Good tour. The tour guides were too polite and on occasion were monopolised by one traveller. Travelling from Kyoto made it a very long day. Suggest leaving from Osaka or closer.
