Really enjoyed this tour! We were lucky enough to be in a small group of four people. Our tour guide, Chie, took us through the market, introduced us to the owners of several stands and described the different foods we were sampling. She answered our questions, even taking the time to explain the proper etiquette for visiting a Shinto shrine there's one right next to Nishiki Market. After the market tour, we ate a delicious seven-course kaiseki meal in a traditional tatami room at a nearby Japanese restaurant. Chie explained how a kaiseki meal works, described each course in detail and translated for the waitress. This tour is a great way to explore one of the most famous parts of Kyoto. I'm glad we took a tour - we would have missed out on a lot if we'd just strolled through on our own. We learned a lot about Japanese cuisine. Since we took this tour as the first thing on our trip, it was very helpful to have this experience behind us at other meals and markets later in our trip.

Loved! Our tour guide was so great-- really knowledgable and sweet! She answered all of our billion questions and also was able to pace the group so that my 66 year old parents could keep up which was an added bonus!

The food was all delicious, and our guide was very informative. The only trouble is Nishiki is so crowded and loud, it was sometimes difficult to hear, and often impossible to gather around an area without blocking traffic in the narrow street. Still, it was a very enjoyable tour, and my wife and I are glad we did it.

We got the same tour guide as our Gion and Kamogawa Evening Food Tour in Kyoto, which is great. Nishiki Market is a wonderful place. Make sure you go there with an empty stomach, cuz you will try lots of different food there.

This tour was worth every dime! Our tour guide spoke very good English and communication with the tour company was efficient. While we did have our tour date changed, it went very well despite the small road bump. The Nishiki market is VAST oasis for foodies and more! Our guide was able to show us a multitude of specialities shops in a very compact time frame. We had a lunch to finish off the tour and it was fantastic! Recommend this for ages 16 and up. A super great experience in Kyoto.

Lovely tour of the market with our guide, Rosali. My mom and I got lucky since we were the only people in the tour! I like to check out markets, and this did not disappoint. The Lunch was great: good japanese eating with good beef. My mom specially enjoyed the rice crackers and bought some for souvenirs. I highly recommend this tour.
