Costa Rica is a country renowned for the diversity of its wildlife, and nowhere showcases as much biological beauty as the Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge. Departing La Fortuna, this 9-hour floating safari takes you through the tropical wetlands and rain forests of the Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge and Rio Frio, areas inhabited by hundreds of birds and animals. In a canoe, you’ll cruise past monkeys, sloths, and exotic birds, and enjoy a Costa Rican lunch on the shores of Los Chiles. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included.
Your journey to Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge begins with pickup from your La Fortuna hotel, where you’ll board an air-conditioned vehicle and relax during the 1.5-hour drive to the nature reserve.
On arrival, you’ll greet your guide and board a canoe to begin your river expedition. As you float down the Rio Frio at a relaxed pace, scour the tropical wetlands and dense rain forest for diverse fauna: caimans, basilisks, cormorants, monkeys, and three-toed sloths are all native to the Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge.
Following your floating safari, you’ll arrive on the shores of Los Chiles to enjoy a typical Costa Rican lunch, accompanied by exotic fruit, fresh juice, and coffee. Sated, you'll conclude your tour with hotel drop-off in La Fortuna.
