Great experience! Made lunch with a mother and her son. The food is simple, but prepared with the freshest ingredients and perfect "momma" execution. It was amazing. We will be making it all when we return home!

After reading reviews, my husbands and I decided to experience this farm to table cooking class and I must say it was awesome. A son and mother worked collaboratively to make this experience great. The son toured us around the farm and later the mother guided us to cook traditional dishes. It was education, intimate and fun. We highly recommend it. My suggestion will be wear closed toe shoes the farm has a lot of mud. Overall interactive and friendly.

We loved taking this class! The recipes were approachable for any skill level and the host was super nice and knowledgeable. Her translator spoke excellent English and was passionate about sharing their traditional cuisine and food they grow with us.

So much fun and a wonderful experience

This was so fun. We cooked with a Costa Rica mother/son with ingredients straight from the garden. Everything we used was so fresh. It was delicious and it was fun so learn their style of cooking. We cooked the food over a wood burning stove. Which was so cool. My family had a wonderful time and we highly recommend it. We did the evening class.

Very good but areas to improve on.

Mixed feelings about this experience. The hosts Miguel and Melenia were so lovely and the food was delicious. However, the booking info said a max of 10 in the group and we had 14. The other party was very nice but they were late to the tour and everything took longer because the group was larger than usual. The farm tour part was a bit disappointing. It was good but not as informative as I would’ve liked and because we started late, it was dark by the time we finished. The food was traditional and yummy!! We even purchased some of the ingredients afterwards to try replicate back home. Overall a positive experience but lack of hand towels, having to do the dishes even tho it was late, larger group size all brought my rating down.

The tour of the farm could’ve been a little more informative. However, the food was excellent. It would’ve been a better experience if they didn’t have us do the dishes in the end. I felt that was a bit off putting since we paid for this.

Great way to learn about local cuisine and farming

Five star experience. We made empanadas and plantain ceviche using ingredients harvested straight from the farm. Our tour guide was Miguel and his mother performed the guided cooking class. Strongly recommend

The chef, Malania taught us how to make plantain ceviche, chicken and rice ,and empanadas! Her wonderful son Luis took us on a tour of the farm first explaining some of the ingredients we would be using in the class! They were warm and engaging ! We all hugged goodbye…

Such an amazing experience. The class was well organized, fun and enjoyable. It's an amazing way to experience the culture and food of Costs Rica! You'll leave having a better understanding of the food, preparation of the food, and feel like part of the family. I can't recommend this place enough!

Homemade, authentic Costa Rican food

Absolutely amazing! We got a tour of the farm and had excellent, authentic homemade Costa Rican food. Pure comfort food and delicious! I learned a lot and had great time. The portions were generous as well. It felt like I was invited into a good friend's family dinner.

What a treat! Jose and M. were our guide and cooking instructor and they were fantastic! Very patient and informative and so skilled at their craft. We made empanadas con pollo with arroz and ceviche de platano. It was delicious! I will be making this at home with my family. The tour of the property was also very interesting. Despite being caught in the rain, Jose managed to give us an excellent tour of their farm. The animals there are very happy and sweet, we loved getting to pet the pigs and goats. My favorite part of the tour was the methane tube they use for fertilizer. Nothing goes to waste here. It was an excellent tour and cooking experience. Don’t miss out!

We had the BEST night with Miguel and his mom. The whole night was a blast. We got a tour of the farm which was really nice. Miguel told us about a bunch of native plants, crops and flowers. And they have pigs! They were so cute. The cooking part was so fun. Everyone was involved and it made it really enjoyable. Dinner was delicious! Definitely recommend this experience!

My daughter and I had a brilliant evening! Austin took us around the farm, and educated us on so many plants, some of which he picked for the meal. He showed us how to prepare and cook the ingredients, and we had a delicious meal. One of my best experiences in Costa Rica. Thanks.

A homemade family meal in La Fortuna

After an informative tour of the farm, getting to sample some fruits right off the tree, drinking pure cane syrup, and petting goats and pigs, we worked together as a group to prepare a lovely meal of empanadas, ceviche, guacamole, and chicken with rice. Our chef and guide, Austin, was fun to be around and a great host. Highly recommend, just do it, absolutely great for families with teenage kids. Young kids may get impatient because it’s not a rushed event.
