What To Expect

Begin your full-day Costa Rican adventure with pickup from your accommodation in Fortuna Town.

Then head to Arenal Volcano Park for a 2.5-hour hike traversing flat grounds and rocky terrain to witness the remnants of the 1968 eruption and learn about the volcano's history.

Then, after a short drive, arrive at La Fortuna Waterfall, where a 500-step hike awaits. Take a refreshing swim at the waterfall's base before heading to the Mistico Hanging Bridges for a 2.5-hour hike through the primary rain forest. Cross 16 hanging bridges and marvel at the Mistico's natural beauty.

Concluding the tour, you'll be dropped off at your original departure point.

Very well organized and beautiful journey on the hanging bridges and walking through the jungle to reach the water falls. Our guide was excellent and she went above and beyond to explain and explore different plants and animals. Very knowledgeable about route and culture. Our guide Valerie was just perfect!

Wonderful Hike

The day tour was wonderful! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative! Highly recommend to anyone who doesn’t have mobility issues since it requires a good amount of hiking and climbing steps. The only tough part was we couldn’t swim in the La Fortuna waterfall since the water level was too high.

My wife and I really loved this experience mostly because of how awesome Juan Carlos was.. "JC" was having just as much fun as we did looking for wild life and would get so excited when he saw something to show us. He is one of my favorite guides I have ever had for any tour ANYWHERE and absolutely made the experience. He is obviously very passionate about what he does and will make you feel like you gained a friend when the tour is over. The lunch we got was DELICIOUS. We were extremely pleased with how good the food was 😁 The only negative I can think of was we expected more or a challenging hike and wanted to get our butts kicked I guess you could say but was more like a walk in the woods with some elevation gain and a beautiful view. So dont sign up if you're hoping for a challenge (we are in very good shape) But again any negatives were made up by "JC" being JC. He's amazing. We highly recommend this tour!!

Val our guide was friendly, engaging and knowledgable. Val showed the group lots of wildlife that would easily be missed without the expert eye of a guide. The lunch was really good and it was a very enjoyable day. I would highly recommend this tour.

We had a great experience during this tour. Our tour guide JC was wonderful. He is very well informed and makes sure everyone in the tour group is comfortable with the activities. He even managed to find a sloth for us during this tour. The food was awesome too. Overall we would highly recommend this tour.

We went on a tour with Juan Carlos and had a great experience. We saw many beautiful attractions in the La Fortuna area. This tour provides a variety of sights in that you will experience the rain forest, waterfall hike and a volcano h all in one day. Juan Carlos kept us excited and enjoying each activity even though we had some rain on the day we toured. We really appreciated his explanations of each place we visited.

Tour guide Angelica and driver Henry made our excursion so fantastic- informative, relaxing and insightful. Angelica has eagle eyes and spotted two sloths, multiple monkeys, coatis, snakes, even a tarantula! Her telescope helped us see all of these creatures up close. She was a wealth of knowledge on all things Costa Rica.

The tour was the highlight of my trip to La Fortuna. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the volcano, plants and wildlife we saw on our hikes. The pace of the tours was excellent and allowed time for photos and breaks. The transportation was on time and very nice. They provided water and a delicious Costa Rican lunch. This tour is a terrific value and a must do on your trip to the Arenal/La Fortuna area. Beyond all my expectations!

This was a full day but exceptional. I think the order of events was perfect, ending with the waterfall swim. I think I was expecting the wall fall to be more natural but it was still a fun experience. Valeria was a terrific guide - knowledgeable, funny, yet able to keep everyone on schedule. Lunch was delicious.

Angelica was a wonderful guide! She was accommodating for our group that ranged in age from 9 to 75. We had a great experience. It was active - a couple of miles of walking - but they make it easy with rest spots.

I was expecting a lot more hiking and walking in solitude. All the components of the tour were very busy and not as challenging as I was led to believe or the photo makes it look like.

This experience was absolutely amazing, our tour guide Will and our driver were above and beyond phenomenal, knowledgeable and super accommodating. We did the volcano lava trail 1st, where Will, gave is a little bit of background and history of the area and then lead us into the trail, then the Fortuna Waterfall which was mesmerizing, even though we were caught in a powerful rainstorm on our way back up the 250 steps, then finally the hanging bridges, where Will, as he has done before, lead us up the trail to the hanging bridges. Overall I super loved the entire experience including the amazing lunch!!!!
If you’re in La Fortuna, DO THIS! Just WOW!!!

Our guide JC was awesome! It was beyond amazing! Sloths, Snakes, Monkeys, Waterfalls, etc! AMAZING!! It rained literally all day long but I would still do it every single day if I could! The lunch they provided was at a nice restaurant and was amazing! My wife and I part of a group of 8 but Juan Carlo took the time to make sure everyone saw everything. He taught us so much about Volcanos, wildlife, and Costa Rican culture. If you’re trying to decide if if it worth it, the answer is YES.

This was one of the greatest experiences of my life!! The day started off with a pickup from our hotel, our only responsibility was to be in the lobby at the right time. We were picked up and then started off our tour with hanging bridges, then off to the La Fortuna Waterfall, lunch and then ended with the volcano hike! We had the best guide Valeria and driver that always kept our comfort in mind, we were provided with water bottles on the bus, and lunch was provided. It rained all day on our tour and you would think the tour guides would try and skip steps and make the day move on quicker than necessary, but NOPE! They were just as excited to show us their beautiful country rain or shine! Our tour group didn't feel like we missed out on anything because of the weather. At the hanging bridges we stopped at all the bridges on the map, stopped by a ton of animals: coati, tarantulas, birds, iguana's etc. We were given time to stop by a coffee stop before we headed over to the La Fortuna waterfall as well which was nice to warm up a bit. Unfortunately, because of the rain we weren't allowed to go into the base of the waterfall and swim, but usually if the rain isn't bad they let you get in at the bottom. Valeria gave us so much information about the different types of vegetation, trees and plants found in the rainforest. Our lunch was an amazing costa rican meal that was HUGE, along with a refreshing fresh fruit drink which was plenty of food! On the way to the volcano hike the driver pulled over on the side of the road for some reason and before I knew it we were looking at a sloth high in the trees!! I had mentioned earlier in the day I hoped to see a sloth, and Valeria & driver went above and beyond to stop and allow us all to take a look through binoculars and even took pictures through the binoculars for all of us to have a special memory. When we got to the volcano hike, it was raining harder and we took a group vote on whether we wanted to do the longer hike or the shorter one. We opted for the shorter hike but it was still amazing! Valeria still stopped at important trees, plants and animals. We ended up at the highest lookout we could get to - and our luck turned when the rain stopped, the fog parted and we were able to see the volcano! The rain seemed like it was unfortunate but more rain means less mosquitos, and more animals out and about. After our day we were dropped back off at our hotels and were able to relax for the rest of the day. Honestly, don’t think about it and BOOK IT - this tour was fantastic! It was also a great way to knock out a lot of things in La Fortuna in 1 day! My husband and I had an incredible time!

We had THE BEST experience on this tour and the tour guide, JUAN CARLOS, was AMAZING! He was soo positive and upbeat and excited about everything he was showing us and was giving us so much more than the basic knowledge. He definitely is the "Costa Rican Steve Irwin" LOL It was a full day tour with a lot of walking which just felt SOO GOOD. This definitely was the highlight of the trip!

This was an amazing experience!! I cannot emphasize how important it is if you are not a native (or even if you are!) to have a guide. Angelica was SO knowledgeable when it came to the natural history, flora, and fauna of every part of the tour and she had a great sense of humor while doing it! Had we done any of these activities alone, they would have been beautiful but having a guide and someone to drive you around without having to stress was lovely! 10/10 would do again!

Great experience with Angelica and our driver, Henri. Was able to see several animals on the nature walk and enjoy a delicious lunch. Angelica was very knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions. She was also very energetic and kind. I would recommend this tour as a great way to see some of the big highlights of La Fortuna/Arenal.
