This hike was definitely intense and should only be done by people who are physically fit. It was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend it! Our guide, Julio, was great and pointed out interesting things along the way. This was by far the best thing I did in Costa Rica.
AMAZING I LOVED THE HIKE, DIFFICULT BUT REWARDING!
What a fantastic day, our tour guides Eric and William are the best.... Be warned you require a minimum level of fitness to complete this volcano climb, but you will be rewarded with a day you will never forget.
William and Marco were excellent guides, helpful, fun and encouraging. The trip was Epic and we loved the strenuous hike.
This tour is an amazing experience! But please note, its not for the faint of heart, these guys are not kidding when they say Extreme, especially if it rains, then the forest ground becomes even more slippery. The climb up is very intense, two hours of steep climbing.
If you love nature walks and a good challenge this one is for you, its a real challenge. There is a sense of accomplishment when you reach the top! Swimming in the lake was the highlight of the trip for me!
The pickup and drop off were punctual and convenient. The guide was knowledgeable and funny.
Bring lots of water, on a sunny day youll need it and have fun!
One of the best days I've had in my lifetime! We did the extreme hike tour with Marcos and Isaac as our guides. Their charisma paired with their compassion led myself and the rest of the group to truly feel the essence of La Fortuna! If I could rate higher I would! They embody Pura Vida at its finest! I absolutely recommend if you are moderately fit!
I'm really struggling to accurately rate this trip. Some parts I would rate a one, some I would rate a 10. Do not take the word extreme lightly. You must be very fit for this tour. It is straight up through the jungle heat for about 2 hours, and of course you have to come back down. After you've climbed the volcano you still have a few more miles through the jungle to get to the waterfall and hanging bridges both beautiful!. I would equate this adventure to a 1/2 marathon or mud run. You're getting physically challenged, sweaty and dirty, in an incredible part of the world. At the end you are rewarded with amazing views at the observatory and a nice hot spring to soothe your aching feet. Looking back, it was one of the most rewarding trips of my life. Who else can say you've climbed to the top of a volcano!? And we would not have been able to complete it without the encouragement and friendliness of our guides!
Note that during the rainy season July, you probably won't see much of the green lake at the top of Cerro Chato.
Don and #39;t book this tour! It and #39;s operated by and #34;guids and #34; are just giggling and jumping like crazy, we think they were taking drugs.
The tour starts at the hottest part of the day, i and #39;m not able to understand why. Maybe the and #34;guides and #34; are not able to get up earlier! We didn and #39;t visit the observatory at all.
