Traveler Tips

Not too steep, but wear good walking shoes as the path is very stoney. After that, we drove to a small village for a very acceptable packed lunch, that is included as part of the tour.
You need sturdy comfortable shoes/trainers with reasonable grip and not open as the volcanic shingle finds its way under your feet very easily.

Superb day - wonderful guides with deep knowledge
Neville_H, Oct 2021
A marvellous day in this fascinating volcanic landscape. We were blessed with not one but two expert guides (Joachim the leader and Olaya the vulcanologist) who shared deep, detailed knowledge not only of the volcanoes themselves but also of the island's history, archaeology and natural history. They took account of all the party's needs and gave us extra time to complete the walks at our own pace. We also benefitted from their flexibility, ably coordinated by Carmen, when we had to delay the trip by a day due to a medical problem. All three of the volcanoes we visited had something of particular interest, and the variety was well explained by our guides.
Excellent tour

Thoroughly enjoyed our day with Martina & Sylvia. Very knowledgeable, gave us lots of information on the history and current climate of the volcanoes, really interesting. Lunch was a choice of delicious rolls, an apple & water.

Anyone interested in a deep geological description of the volcanic history of Lanzarote will love this tour. The tour guides Arnolfo and Silvia were excellent. This particular day had high winds, so it presented some walking challenges, but it was a pleasant, interesting outing. The trip description says snacks would be provided, but we actually had a picnic lunch. I highly recommend this hike to anyone interested drilling down into the depths of volcanic geology.

Very interesting & informative!

Adolfo was very knowledgeable and he managed to simplify the concepts so that we were able to have a better understanding of how the Canary Islands were created. He was also very patient in answering our queries. The walking pace was manageable. We enjoyed ourselves.

We had a great time and we could ask as many questions as we wanted. The tour was guided by an archaeologist and a geologist. Our lunch was a sandwich, an orange and a bottle of water.

Great Trip To Learn About Volcanos
Mary_S, Sep 2019
We really enjoyed this tour, picked up in time from our hotel and off to Timanfaya National Park, not a long drive, and soon we were on our way to visit the first volcano. There were only 4 of us, a nice small group. We travelled in a minibus and along a bumpy section away from the main roads for the last bit before we set off walking. We soon reached the base of the first volcano with regular stops for information, then we climbed upwards but it was manageable even for anyone unused to hiking. We we able to look into the crater from the top, and take some photos before heading off to the second volcano, no climb walking on the level and worth it to see a great example of a volcano ‘bomb’. The third volcano was one where you go inside the crater, a little more tiring as the day got warmer, so bring water and make sure to wear sun screen and a hat. You need sturdy comfortable shoes/trainers with reasonable grip and not open as the volcanic shingle finds its way under your feet very easily. It’s an idea to take your own bottle of water to drink while walking, though there is water available at lunch time. We had a tasty choice of sandwiches for lunch, with a piece of fruit, which was perfectly sufficient. Our driver and guide was a geologist, who was literally a mine of information and loved to talk all things volcano related.

Brilliant 3 volcanoes walk
Sheila_C, Jun 2019
Despite the rather cool cloudy weather this was a brilliant walk, with two excellent leaders who were knowledgeable and friendly. Walk is about 8km with only one uphill section. Good lunch supplied.
