My husband and I had a great experience on the Guided Mountain Bike Tour of Mustang Trail at Red Rock. Our guide Irving was great keeping the group together and informed through the whole tour with lots of breaks to catch our breaths!. The bikes were great and easy to use. The trails were a combo of rocky skinny paths and wider less rocky paths. There was also a pretty even uphill and downhill ratio. The views were spectacular and we had the best weather with blues skies with temps in the low 70's. This tour is definitely for someone used to riding a bike, but besides that, with some good common sense and a little bit of thought about your gears, most could do this. Irving picked us up at our hotel with the bikes and helmets and had plenty of water for everyone. My husband and I came to Las Vegas for a weekend and wanted to explore outside the strip and this was an added surprise that was a highlight. For reference, we are in our 50's and are active exercisers who work out multiple times a week.
This was a great way to spend some time seeing a different side to Vegas. The tour was a lot of fun. We had Mike as a tour guide who was extremely helpful. He offered great tips on how to ride the bicycles and the trail which made it more enjoyable for our group of 3 who had never mountain biked on terrain like this. He made it challenging for us but not too challenging that we felt overwhelmed. The bicycles themselves were excellent. I would highly recommen this tour.
Very nice tour, a bit expensive but a great way to experience the nature around Vegas.
Irving was a careful guide. Though there were 8 people in our group with varying experience and abilities, everyone got Lenny of choices in routes and excitement. For the more experienced aggressive riders he had side trips planned. The bikes were excellent, some with 29 inch tires which ride great. The hills that some rode up and some pushed their bikes up were not too long or steep or difficult....just right.... And the scenery was gorgeous desert...
The equipment...bikes and helmets ...were top rate...bad Irving brought and carried extra water...everyone went through at least 2 bottles.
It was a great morning trip.
We loved our mountain bike tour! The ride was customized to our skill level with just the right combination of challenge and fun. The pick-up and drop-off process was very convenient. We were tempted to sign up again and ride the next day.
Great your, guide was excellent and so was the hire bike. Would highly recommend this if you want to see something other than casinos in Vegas
I had never mountain biked before this trip and wanted to see the desert. While I found the experience challenging I really enjoyed it and want to pursue the sport at home . Brandon was a very fine guide , knowledgable considerate and professional. I would reccomend this trip for any reasonably fit
Brandon is super knowledgeable and fun! My boyfriend and I did this last week. We’re from Oregon, in our young 30s, and are relatively outdoorsy, healthy, and athletic. I went into this as a newbie mountain biker (although with cycling class experience) and the bf went into this with mountain biking experience, but only as a kid (20+ years ago). He did okay, but I did not.
Spinning/cycling class skills do not transfer over to mountain biking well. I had difficulty learning how to balance my weight, position my body, and apply the brakes. The terrain had loose gravel, large rocks, and prickly plants along the narrow trail. On one of the first dips, my brain froze and I applied the L brake (front wheel) because I’m L-handed, rather than the R (rear). I went head first into the prickly plants and rocks. My left thigh was pinned under the handlebars until I unfroze. This is not a trail to practice and experiment on for the 1st time. During the switchbacks, I was intimidated and got off my bike and walked which was allowed and encouraged. The tour guide and our fellow rider rode ahead and then the 4 of us would reconvene for briefing before the next portion. This was great because they were able to do their thing while the bf and I took it slow. Overall, the bf had minimal problems with the trail, unlike me. Although both of us were panting heavily during the climbs due to the change in elevation, dry air, and hot sun.
The trail and landscape was beautiful. We got some great photos and captured many of my falls on my GoPro which has been comical. I’m still bruised and limping 1 week later, but battle wounds are the best. That’s one thing to note. Ladies, do this tour at the *END* of your trip if you want to look good. I looked all 50-shades-of-gray, beat up and bruised, at the pool and got many inquisitive looks. Also I was limping which meant no heels for the rest of the trip. But overall, Brandon was the best! I’d do this tour again or even try mountain biking again!
The tour was absolutely fantastic as was our guide Adam! The trail was both challenging and fun at the same time - and like nothing the four of us had experienced before. Adam was excellent as our tour guide! I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys biking and who wants to do something off the beaten path from the typical Las Vegas experience.
Great guide, beautiful scenery. Be prepared for a workout! As someone who has only done some light road biking, it was a whole different world. However, it was easy to pick up with help from the guide and I had the time of my life.
This tour was brilliant Brandon's knowledge was excellent very informative. Beginners half day tour was quite tough but exhilarating. The quality of the bikes were exceptional. I would highly recommend this as a change from the Las Vegas strip.
First time in Vagas area and had a fun ride in Red Rocks. Great tour guide made it better.
Despite 40 degree Celsius heat, this was a fantastic fun bike tour. Our guide kept a great pace, made sure we stayed hydrated and entertained us the whole afternoon. Planning to come back with the kids!!
The tour was incredible! The guide made sure everyone on the trip was traveling at a comfortable pace and made the challenging terrain fun. Plenty of water was provided and if I am in Las Vegas again I will definitely do this again.
Best part of our Vegas trip! Exhilarating, fun and challenging! Our guide Brandon was the best we could ask for. Very encouraging and was able to meet our experience level or biking just right. Very informative or the local terrain, animals and fauna. Would love to do this again in the future!!!
Absolutely fantastic. Brandon our guide was the best guide ever. Very knowledgeable of the terrain and very good at managing the different levels within the group. I can not wait to do this again.
I took this ride with a small group of riders that had varied levels of mountain biking experience. Brandon, our guide, did an amazing job of selecting a route that tested everyone while keeping everyone safe. I would return to Vegas just to bike it again. We rode 14 miles on half day trip - it was 100 degrees at 9am. Again our guide made us stop and hydrate, etc. Great time... Thanks Brandon!
A friend and wanted to stretch our legs out in the hills the day after running the LV R and R Marathon. We hooked up with Irving, our guide for the Red Rock MTB tour. Since we were the only two riders that day we were given a choice of trails from beginner to advanced. We choose something in between. The TB bikes were fill suspension and relatively new and maintained. Seats were adjustable and bike comfortable to ride. Since we did not have clip in bike shoes we had to use the flat peddles which takes away from some of the riding skills on the trail.
Soon realized after riding the starting uphill trail that we were not fully used to this type of single track riding. we had the strength but not developed skills to ride sandy, rocky single track efficiently. We choose a lesser loop trail that was easier. After a while we started to adjust to the trail riding and I started to speed up and have fun. I done much MTB riding in the past so, it was starting to sink in again. My friend had very little but was adjusting. The tour level we wee on is not for the beginner MTB cyclist. Does require some skill in riding sandy, rocky single track without falling. Irving was very helpful and patient guide and adjusted to our level of riding.
The trail and background mountains were colorful and quiet, a reprieve from the noisy urban scene back along the Strip. Started out warm but cooled off later in the day. Was having to much fun to notice that my arms and legs were becoming scratch up. Was wearing Tri shorts and sleeveless jersey. Needed more protection offered from a long sleeve shirt and pants that protected lower legs. My fiend fell a couple of times a received some bruising but Irving was there to help her through it all.
Just as I was getting into trail the trip was over. Would like to come back next time a little more prepared to take longer more difficult trails that getting me closer to the mountains. I would recommend this tour and outfit. to all that have some MTB skill on single track.
Definitely would recommend this. Had fun , first time doing mountain biking yet I was comfortable with the group and Brandon.
Excellent if you're in good shape. The trail has very long climbs, followed by long down hill rides. The full day tour is about 20-25 miles. In our group not everyone (including myself) were able to finish it.
The guide, Brendon, is very much fun and a true bike professional.
If you sign in, make sure to call them a few days in advance to make sure it's on, because my tour had to be moved because there weren't enough people who signed up.
