Very good tour and the guide, Sophie, was excellent. Museum of Naxi culture most interesting. Views from the top of the Old town wonderful and you must experiment for lunch! Fair walk and need to remember the elevation so pace yourself. Thoroughly recommend this tour.
Excellent guide and driver. Guide very knowledgeable and dedicated. Knew museum very well.
I recommend this tour for everyone, even older tourists who sometimes have trouble keeping up. We visited a typical roadside village, saw some of the important historical sites in the area, including a monument to the Long March, a very old engraved stone reciting Important events of the early Naxi people, a broad bend in the upper Yangtze where the forces of both Kubla Khan and the early Red Army chose to cross to further their campaigns, and the Gorge of the Leaping Tiger. Unfortunately the Long March monument area was closed and strong, cold winds precluded any time spent in the Gorge more than for a few pictures. We also made the mistake of including the Black Dragon Pool in our itinerary the day before so we did not go to the Pool again. The lunch for the day was served in a restaurant on the Shangrila side of the Yangtze in the Tibetan style and was delicious.
