Traveler Tips

Peruvian snacks and a lunch were also given so this is a tour to go on when you are hungry!!
The food was fantastic at the markets - don't eat breakfast as you wont be able to fit it all in.
Seeing Barranco through the eyes of the locales is the best kind of adventure.

Exhilarated all the senses!

Aura met us at the hotel, it was just the two of us with her for the tour. We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects, from the fish market to the meat and vegetable stands, to the wonderful art in Barranco. Aura was very knowledgeable, never left us wondering what was happening or what was next, and answered all our questions with very, very good English! Highly recommend for foodies who enjoy art and history.
Great way to experience Lima!

This was such a cool way to see a different part of the city. I loved that we went to the area where the fishing boats come in and man that food was delicious! Then a market, and seeing lively Barranco. Very cool experience.
Fun in Barranca and fishing town.

Perfect introduction!

This was my first time visiting Lima, Peru and it was a great way to dive into the city! Edmund was fantastic, knowledgeable and personable, making sure that they tour was geared to my liking. The lunch selection…perfecto!! It was about a 4 hour tour but it didn’t feel like since it was half driving and half walking among the different neighborhoods and barrio. I would highly recommend.
Excellent tour!

We loved our tour of Lima on Sunday morning - we had the best time. You get to visit the fish market, and try amazing local food. Also loved walking around Barranco, such a fun vibrant neighborhood, and you get to see all the murals. Highly recommend this tour!

Great tour with a unique approach. We loved the opportunity to see the local neighborhoods and taste the local foods. We had already taken an all-encompassing highlights tour of Lima, so this was the perfect addition to really get a sense of how the people live and go on with their daily lives. Jean Paul is so knowledgeable and enthusiastic, you cannot come away from this without feeling like you are a welcome and honored visitor in Lima. Thanks for the memories!

I did this tour in January and it was fantastic. Led by guide Edgar or Edwin? who was incredibly proud of his culture and the good work his company does in supporting local indigenous Peruvians. We went to the seafront to see the daily catch and fish market and then best of all we went to a local food market in a suburb of Lima most tourists wouldn't know about and stuffed ourselves silly with all kinds of local food and drink you won't get in hotels. Terrific!

We had a great time and it was easiest tour for us as we were picked up right at our hotel. My group was the only one on the tour so we had a really great experience. Nathaly was very knowledgably about Peru and was great to visit Lima with!

We took this amazing tour on Thursday November 3rd 2017 - our last day in Lima. It was a great opportunity to meet local people in their workplaces at the fish market and pier and at the local open air food market in Chorillos. We were able to sample a wide range of fruits and foods that we would not have otherwise encountered. The Barranco tour was a bit more typical and time restricted. Our guide was outstanding and clearly greeted with respect and friendliness by everyone that we met and talked with. We have great memories and some colourful pictures. Connections from and to the hotel were flawless. This is a perfect walking tour for anyone wanting to see the real communities and to get out of the standard tourist bubble. -B and J G Canadians
Very informative Culture/Food Exploration and Great Food Tasting
Dong_Z, Nov 2019
This tour is very informative and we learnt a ton about local people, culture and most importantly food;) We start at the fisherman wharf to see the daily life and learn about their struggles. I also learn the names of several local fishes that I have never seen before for instance the "guitar". Then we moved to taste all kinds of local fruits and seafood. I had my first amazon piranha that day. We ended the tour with a trip the art walk. Our tour guide gave us a lot of background on those arts and neighborhood if Barranco. I would highly recommend this tour for people who want to have a fun day exploring the city in deep and try some food. It is half day, so you have plenty of time to do other explorations yourself as well.
Great experience with knowledgeable guides

Wonderful Tour!
Josh P, Aug 2018
We had a fantastic morning learning about the food and art scene in Lima. We started at the docks and learned about the fishing industry, then went to a local market, tasted some delicious and strange fruits and finished up with a tasty meal of ceviche and chicharones de pescado. Then we went up to Barranca and walked around that beatufiul area. The guide was superb - informative, friendly, funny - and the logistics were spot on. This was the hilight of our stay in Lima.
Great tour
Christine_G, Oct 2018
This was a really great experience. It was my first day in Peru and it was made memorable and enjoyable by the guide and her knowledge and friendliness. Pickup was on time which is always a good start. Time at the market was great with really interesting tastings of different fruits. Peruvian snacks and a lunch were also given so this is a tour to go on when you are hungry!! The later part of the tour was the 'colors' part and it was gorgeous to see the street art. Pamela? was fabulous - interesting in all ways and very aware of the needs of the very small group. It was a great tour.
Lima food tour
Lisa_F, Jun 2018
This was a wonderful food tour and experience! Starting with pickup from our residence we traveled to 3 different areas of the city. Our guide Jonathan was very knowledgeable and helpful. He spoke both English and Spanish, what ever you needed him to. The fruit tasking at one of the markets we went to was very memorable! We tasted many fruits from Peru that we had never even heard of. I would highly recommend this tour, as I already have to a fellow traveler in Cusco!

Great off the beaten path tour. We saw how the locals lived and what their needs were, I am very glad to have been able to see and give back to the Community. Thank you Haku Tours and thank you to Jean Paul and Jorge, the best people and guides/drivers. Thank you for sharing your beautiful country and people. Haku Tours was so great, we booked them 3 days in a row with the same guides and drivers.
