Explore two of Peru’s most fascinating sights in one day as you visit the majestic Ballestas Islands, a marine sanctuary, before taking an aerial tour of the famous Nazca Lines during this 16.5-hour, full-day tour from Lima. This full-day experience also includes a guide, lunch and round-trip transportation from your hotel.
  • Full-day tour to Ballestas Islands and Nazca Lines from Lima
  • Enjoy an aerial tour of the Nazca Lines
  • Guided sightseeing visit of the Ballestas Islands
  • Learn about the culture and history of the Nazca people
See two of Peru’s top attractions in one day on this combination aerial Nazca Lines tour and visit to the unspoiled Ballestas Islands for wildlife spotting. It’s the perfect excursion for Peru visitors short on time, or for those looking to experience two of the country’s top sights in one action-packed day. Start your day with a 4am pickup at your Lima hotel, continuing with a drive along the scenic Peruvian coast towards the town of Paracas. The town is situated on a picturesque peninsula renowned for its wealth of wildlife and gorgeous beaches.

Board a ferry in Paracas for the trip out to the Ballesta Islands, a national reserve that is home to a wealth of marine life, including sea lions and many species of birds. Spend some time exploring these beautiful islands at your leisure, and take a few photos of the intriguing wildlife that populates the rocky shores. You’ll also be able to view the “Candelabra of the Andes,” a 600-foot (180m) painting visible in the mountainside that lines the Bay of Paracas.

Depart from Paracas as you head inland towards the Nazca Lines, a UNESCO World Heritage site experts believe was constructed more than 1,000 years ago. Board your aircraft, fitted with a window seat for every passenger, as you soar into the skies above this enigmatic sight for incredible views of the various animal designs down below.

Each of the line drawings you’ll see during your flight has a special significance. The 300-foot (90m) monkey, for example, has only nine fingers, which site experts believe symbolizes the nine months of drought the Nazca people experienced each year. Meanwhile the spider is said to represent water and fertility, as the creature is known to appear just before the annual rainstorms. As for the hummingbird, condor and flamingo, experts suspect the birds’ beaks are aligned to match the angle of the sunrise and sunset during the year’s two solstice events. You’ll also fly above the Nazca lines lizard, which was unfortunately split in two during the construction of the Pan-American highway in 1937.

At the conclusion of your Nazca Lines flight, enjoy an included lunch before starting your return trip to Lima for drop-off at your hotel.

This is a 16.5 hr tour beginning with the most deluxe coach (it is beyond a bus) ever experienced. 4 hrs from Lima to Paracas/Little Galapagos. Tour representatives met me at every location and individually got me to the next location without fail. There was some down time in Paracas after the boat ride to see the animals and there is plenty of shopping, restaurants, and coffee available close to the tour office. I would do whatever I could when booking to be sure you are NOT sitting over the wing on the plane over the Nazca Lines. Your camera angles are compromised and the lines are somewhat difficult to decipher -- you need as much viewing thru a window as possible -- ask to be seated away from wing area. And be sure your agent gives you a map of the Lines as you will see them in order -- the lady behind me told me what was coming next -- I didn't get a map till we landed! Little to no shopping at the airport so get all souvenirs in Paracas, An exhausting but delightful day!!! Kudos to all my "handlers".

It was a very long day as expected with mainly driving/boating. You will be in a 10 seat airplane and have 20 seconds to look for the Nazca Lines and take a picture if your lucky. You will not have an opportunity to see all the lines. Wear a nose/mouth mask on your journey to Ballestas Islands because the bird droppings really stink! You are also in a small boat with no bathroom or overhead so watch out for bird droppings. Basically you are paying for the transportation service and the plane and boat people are your guides.

We really liked the Ballesta Islads, Nazca lines were good too.

Wow, this was a great experience that I really enjoyed. One important word of caution, if you get motion sickness really consider whether this tour is for you. I have an iron gut and I was thrilled as the small plane hard banked right and then left so that we good look DOWN onto the lines through our windows. A few passengers were not so happy and the tour does not STOP - thankfully.

Fantastic tour! Saw 2 bull sea lions fighting just like the nature shows on television and although the water was pretty rough still managed to get some great pictures! I've wanted to see the Nazca Lines since I first read about them as a 10 year old and was impressed and awed. Definitely worth it!

The Nazca Lines are a must see if they have not been destroyed recently. The pilot and the co-pilot of the small plane worked diligently to be sure that the pictographs were visible on both sides of the plane, even if it required some tight turns. The Ballestas Islands boat tour was an unexpected delight and offered quite a view of the various birds and other wildlife found on the islands. Overall, the tour was well organized from start to finish, including an excellent lunch.

I would suggest not to sit people on the back of the plane. The flight for two of us was so bad that we did not care about these lines. The other people on the plane were just fine.

I liked it a lot especially when the pilot was trying to draw the Nazca Lines by airplane wing.

This isn't worth it. It's a long day and honestly, you barely get to see the lines, they are really faded and the plane flies over it rather fast, the pilot is the tour guide, so they really didn't give good information/history. I honestly wanted my money back, since it's so expensive and I do viator excursions all the time and generally love them.
If you do decide to do this make sure you take motion sickness pills at least an hour before the plane ride over Nazca, I did, but most of my plane was getting sick!
