Explore the intriguing Bones Chapel

On the morning of your tour, either enjoy a pickup from your Lisbon hotel or meet your guide in central Lisbon. Aboard your luxury coach, you’ll cross the Tagus River over the 25th of April Bridge. Then, sit back and admire views of the verdant Portuguese countryside as you head about 81 miles (130 km) southeast to the storied town of Évora.

Arrive in the Alentejo region’s capital and step off your coach for a delightful walking tour. Alongside your guide, you’ll discover this UNESCO World Heritage-listed town’s historical attractions and see its distinct landmarks. Visit the remnants of the Roman Temple, the Bones Chapel, the Romanesque Gothic cathedral and Évora's university. Then, spend some time on your own wandering freely through Évora's alluring walkways before stopping for lunch at a local Portuguese restaurant.

After lunch, hop back into your coach and proceed through the wine region of the Alentejo. Evora is truly worth seeing with the churches, chapels and cathedral, Roman Temple is small but worth seeing. Lunch was great but wine tasting was a little disappointing, it seemed like the winery wasn't prepared for the visit. One red wine was served only, they were more interested in selling wine. But if you can't taste it to see what you want to buy you are not going to sell a lot of wine.

We expected a lot from this tour considering the reputation of Evora, and so were a little bit disappointed by the limited number of interesting sites visited. A good lunch was served in the pleasant garden of a restaurant. We did not really learn much from visiting the wine cellar of a local producer. The tour concluded with a short wine tasting session.

The trip was quite disorganized at the start. The hotel pickup was prompt and on-time but not at all friendly. It wasn't clear that we were being transported to a central point to meet up with our actual tour. Once we got to the central point, there was confusion and chaos for nearly 20 minutes and 2 bus changes to get everyone settled. The tour itself was quite good and the guide was personable and knowledgeable. The tour included lunch and it was the first time this particular place had been used. There was a wedding that afternoon so we were placed in a hallway near the bathrooms away from the main area although the wedding was not scheduled for a few hours. The food and service were fine and we received complimentary wine, but the atmosphere could have been better. We thoroughly enjoyed Evora and recommend the trip if the logistics can be worked out.

Day started badly with a mix-up at the transfer point. Enjoyed this trip a lot as it was a small but very diverse group of people and the tour guide couldn't have tried harder to make it work.

The guide was nice but talked way too much and too long on every topic, not breaking up the Portuguese and English segments. The side trip to the Fonseca winery was an added bonus, but we had to wait around for another group to join us and then were rushed out at the end during the tasting/chance to buy wine. Lunch, however, was great!
