We've done many tastings across the US, from California to New York. This tour was outstanding. Leisurely, beautiful vistas, and truly great wines. Paulo, our guide, is a native of Lisboa, and was a font of fascinating information, on top of being a really nice guy. Have a hearty breakfast before you go. Bom viagem.

What a throughly enjoyable experience. Even through my husband and I are not large or even moderate consumers of wine this tour with Ricardo was great. Ricardo made our day interesting with his enthusiasm and knowledge of the local wine area of Setubal. We gained knowledge and enjoyment through tasting and conversation. A side trip to a tile factory where true artistry is still generated was a gem. Our thanks to Ricardo for a most unforgettable day!

A very special, unique and exciting winery tour even though we have done quite a few winery tours elsewhere in the world. Our host Joao D planned an excellent tour of the very unique vineyard. We covered the oldest winery in the area, another one of the smallest by volume but big for the local market, and a very special liquor/cheese/jam facilities. Joao is extremely knowledgeable about wines he has his own farm and he has a very easy to understand way of explaining about wine making process and drinking. We very much enjoyed the tour and highly recommend to others. This tour is far more than those try a few wines in a few wineries kind of tours.

Very nice tour. Portuguese wine selection is far greater than Porto. These wineries were friendly, interesting, and the wines superb.

Driver knew wine, region, processes, locals, culture. He shared willingly and eagerly. Our satisfaction was his 1 concern. Would recommend him to a friend in a heartbeat.

It was a great tour, our tour guide Paolo was amazing. It is a completely private tour, so if you're expecting something in a group, it's definitely not that. The wine was great, we ended up tasting 6 wines and 4 hard alcohols. They were generous with the amounts to taste as well, and we ended up taking back home something like 12 litres of wine :-

One of the best tours I have been on, the wines were excellent. It was 6 persons on the tour and our driver had us in separate cars. The entire team was knowledge and friendly. I would do this tour again if i visited Portugal.

This is a fantastic tour, especially if you want to do a wine tour from Lisbon without going all the way to the Douro Valley! Our guide Paolo was enthusiastic, fun and knowledgeable. The wines were excellent...Paolo showed us a wide variety of wines and vineyards. The side trip to the tile artisan's factory was a bonus. A great day!

Great trip with Joao! He was a very knowledgeable tour guide with lots of information about Lisbon and the Setubal region. We were picked up right at our AirBnb in Lisbon and had a quick and easy ride to Setubal and between the wineries. The first stop José Maria da Fonseca was a traditional winery tour with a small tasting at the end. The second Quinta de Alcube was a much smaller winery and we got to see the whole range of production, from tasting grapes right off the vine to watching them get crushed. We tasted a number of great wines here. The last stop Lima Fortuna involved a private tasting of cheese and liqueurs. The cheese was delicious and we bought some to take back to our AirBnb.

I would definitely recommend this tour, great for couples or small groups that want a personalized experience.

One of the highlights of an amazing vacation. The wine we had was probably the best I've ever had in my life. Our guide, Rodrigo, was outstanding. Not knowing much about wine ourselves, Rodrigo was able to explain the process, differences in styles, history of the wineries, and anything we needed to know on a level that novices like ourselves could understand. On top of that, he gave us great tips on where to eat and spend time for the rest of our trip. We also talked sports and home brewing :. Finally, the scenery was gorgeous. I would do this same trip over and again if I ever make it back to Lisbon.

We couldn't have asked for a better day visiting the Setubal region and learning about the region's wine and history. Rodrigo Rod was an excellent tour guide...he was passionate, enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable. He picked us up at our Airbnb right on time, and over the course of the day we visited 2 wineries and 1 cave and were able to try a variety of wines and liqueurs. He also took us to visit one of the oldest producers of azulejo traditional Portuguese tiles to see how the tiles are made. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Lisbon area who is interested in wine!

This was an excellent experience for a small group there were 4 of us. We visited two wine estates and one wine cellar where we learned about Portuguese wine and wine growing. We sampled a number of wines as well as some local foods light snack. I highly recommend the small group for flexibility and an enhanced experience. We avoided the crowds and thoroughly enjoyed this tour!

My wife and I were the only people on the trip so we had the undivided attention of our guide, Rodrigo. By the end of the day he had ceased to be a guide and had become a new friend. His knowledge and his love and enthusiasm for his country and its wine-making tradition ensured that we had a fascinating day. Not only did he take us to three very different winemakers, but he also shoe-horned in a visit to a very impressive pastelaria, where we sampled a delicious local speciality rather reminiscent of an up-market Swiss roll. Then a visit to the Fonseca Cellars a large-scale winemakerwhere the wine is matured in massive mahogany and oak casks followed by a visit a small independent winemaker using modern stainless steel vats. A quick detour to a tile-making factory which was absolutely absorbing, then finally we went to a specialty liqueur producer's exhibition halls where we viewed interesting scale models of transport from the past, then tasted Arrabidine and coffee liqueurs with a selection of delicious home-made jams. Rod, who had been abstemious up to then, just couldn't hold back from indulging in his love of pumpkin jam! We were sorry that the trip had to come to an end, because we really made a connection with Rod and were sorry to bid him farewell. We were sad that we could not prevail on him to join us at A Valenciana for dinner.
In summary, this was a very memorable trip and well worth the money. We wholeheartedly recommend it.
